This. I recently graduated from a PWI and *all* they played was hip-hop bangers to shake some ass to. The bars would play some radio hits but if it's a college part it's heavy rap/hip-hop. they were obsessed beyond belief with 21 savage

Her music videos slay more than some MPGs (looking at you Lorde) & her music is decent enough but imo as an individual she still feels a bit manufactured and kinda uninteresting. She has to find a way to grow out of her perceived role as a TikTok artist ala Disney girl to MPG.

As someone with mostly straight guy friends, yes. Love them to death but I wish I had more gay friends irl because when I hang around them too much I end up feeling like this emoji

I think she explained herself thoroughly and it seems honest. It doesn't read like she's wholly just making excuses at least, just explaining. The communities hurt the most, and especially her fans in said communities, deserve to hear that much at least. That said, she should've spent a lot more time talking about the people affected, and how damaging it is. It's a great opportunity to educate & I fear her apology will be overshadowed by the essays of text…which will just make some people roll their eyes. She did say it's just a start, so there's that. But considering the state of the country and how on-guard and uncompromising the general population is right now, I'm not sure there was ever going to be a way for her to fully alleviate people's worries and disappointment. I can empathize with being raised in the deep south and inheriting ignorance; but what of her black fans who have to second guess an artist that once brought them comfort? The ones who've experienced the pain and trauma of racism first hand? While she's been very politically active and even radical and outspoken doing so, seeing this has hurt a lot of people even if weaponized by stan twitter. I'm willing to give her grace, but I'm not going to give anyone pushback for thinking otherwise. It's just…any poc fan can simply do away with conflicting feelings about a given artist and just go on to love an artist who…was just never racist regardless of trauma A lesson in digital mindfulness regardless of age.

Idk the true scope of it and it's not even really a rumor at this point beyond who specifically participates (like allegedly some of the kardashians at some point) but the talks about celebrity "yatching" has always disturbed me. I mean sure it's essentially just high end escorting from celebs, socialites, and even influencers but it certainly has dark undertones and is probably still happening. They say younger people in the industry hoping to expand their profile and get new opportunities participate as well. If they're happy and getting a bag, great I guess…but it's always going to seem a bit disturbing knowing what some influencers or younger celebs have to do to make some leeway.
