  1. The director of this movie directed ''Can You Ever Forgive Me?'' and ''A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood '', which got a lot of praise and nominations for their performances, so I understand her interest in working with her.
  2. Also, I want to say to all of these people saying ''They should vandalize a CEO's house'': You do it! Organize with people in your area and DO IT. If you see others failing to realize that which you want to see, it's your turn to step up.
  3. I mean, like You have Bowen Yang in SNL, Joel Kim Booster, who just starred in ''Fire Island'', Julio Torres... I like Billy Eichner, and it is true that there are gay men who hate gay celebrities because of self-hatred or whatever, but it's okay to not like his comedy, no one is going to call you a ''bad gay'' for doing so.
  4. I don't usually post comments such as the one I'm about to post, but you know what would have been bad for students too? Their parents/legal guardians and teachers dying. This was an unknown virus/disease, with no treatment whatsoever, so, as bad or unorganized as lockdowns of any kind in 2020 might have been, they were better than nothing.
  5. Don't leave out the fact that the UK saw a major life expectancy drop in 2020 though... All of the arguments here have been discussed over and over on the main thread on COVID, but to me it always amounts to the same: the two countries' approach to present their own set of problems. I don't think the Chinese approach would work anywhere else, and it shouldn't, basically because other countries have been able to promote social distancing, softer lockdowns (compared to China's) and mask mandates when needed, and they've had access to vaccines, which most of the population has willingly taken. The US' strategy, though, is highly problematic as well: making healthcare a business rather than an essential public service is a major structural issue, specially during a pandemic that has killed millions. Major politicians and public figures disregarding masks, vaccines, or any other measure against COVID, or the CDC changing its guidelines to appease politicians and businesses, all are key reasons why there are more than a million death in the US, and why the conversation on Long Covid is not as mainstream as it should be: the profit machine can't stop.
  6. Her ideas might not be expressed like those tweets, but her ideas are bigoted, and are embraced by like-minded bigots, who can influence law-makers to pass laws that get trans people killed (see the US, for instance).
  7. The absolute disregard for both monkeypox and Covid
  8. This is a lie And another Spanish thread, made by a supposed man who'd been infected after buying a scooter from someone else, has also been shown to be a lie. https://twitter.com/pekweet/status/1554225927256686592?s=20&t=alHSlg7I_mIMkn-uBAaeTw
  9. While that is true, there's a huge number of cases coming (no pun intended) from close contact through sex, so I believe it would be best, in an individual level, to reduce your number of partners, and taking precautions if you're in crowded places (mask, washing of hands when possible -if you'd stopped doing that-).
  10. What Owen is reacting to is people being outraged by the fact that the CDC is prioritizing MSM What people (apparent progressives) on social media, such as the one user to whom Owen is replying on the screenshot, are failing to realize is that the main problem with HIV/AIDS was that GOVERNMENTS LET LGBTQ PEOPLE GET SICK AND DIE.
  11. Peter Staley, historic ACT UP activist, asks the very same thing https://twitter.com/peterstaley/status/1551562163575218176?s=20&t=X0wO3WQuhCfIw0eDi8pbYQ
  12. OMG Roses are red Violets are blue, Piers Morgan isn't a leftist, you fool
  13. Mmm I would say that you and Billie are right (this shouldn't have been televised, as if it was a TV show to binge) , but the fact that many people jumped on Amber Heard to rob her of her humanity, making TikToks of her rape testimony, analyzing her every move through ''body language experts'' and calling her nicknames, shows how people, even so called progressives, are still filled with misogyny, which is the reason we have a group of judges legislating over women's bodies.
  14. For encouraging her listeners to mask outside Worldwide hoodie with the mask outside In case you forgot how we act outside Which is going to be an interesting set of lyrics if she decides to tour, and gathers thousands of fans singing back to her maskless.
  15. And Europe is the total opposite: anti-rnb and hip-hop (at least US hip-hop).
  16. The JD stans mocking Amber Heard and calling her an abuser while posting a gif of a woman being hit with an object have lost their minds
  17. OMG you Depp apologists are still taking that quote out of context AH: Tell the world, Johnny, tell them ''Johnny Depp, I, Johnny Depp, man, I-I'm a victim too of domestic violence, and I, you know, it's a fair fight'' and see how many people believe or side with you. JD: It doesn't matter a f-f-fair fight my ass. AH: Exactly, because you're big, you're bigger and you're stronger. And so when I say that I thought that you could kill me, that doesn't mean you counter with you also lost your own finger. I, I'm not trying to attack you here, I'm just trying to point out the fact of why I said call 911. Because I was, you had your hands on me after you threw a phone at my face.
  18. I mean, there are maaaaaaaany things to improve on in regards to the original US version: the Brian-Justin relationship (obviously), the whiteness of it all, the focus on cis characters... BUT one of the things that made the show interesting , and that I wish that this remake explored, is that the characters (except Justin) were in their thirties/mid-thirties. Now, from what I read/see in the trailer, most of them are younger, which makes me wonder why this is even called ''Queer as Folk'' if it doesn't share ANYTHING with the two previous versions of the show.
  19. Ah yes, the first question. Yes, I'm going to let my ''hate'' for that party dictate my decision, because they're a political party, not someone who did not invite me to their birthday: I hate what they stand for, and I hate that they block measures to progress society (in the US). If they're celebrating this it's because it sets a precedent for powerful men to shut victims down who speak up against their abusers. Notice, for instance, how JK Rowling wrote her essay against trans rights, and then was quoted by a GOP senator (and now many states are criminalizing trans youth). The GOP is a party that is going to do everything it can to destroy the lives of vulnerable people, and that includes victims of abuse of any kind or any gender. Again, I hate the GOP, and any conservative party, because I hate what they stand for, and how that ideology wrecks people's lifes.
  20. You have to extremely naive, in a scale that is so unspeakable,to believe that they're not related.
  21. The GOP celebrated Johnny’s win on Twitter yesterday You Depp apologists are being clowned by the right and you don’t even realize it. https://twitter.com/gaywonk/status/1532088505802842119?s=20&t=WfmDU1pHZ5-jSLI_Uu3sFA
