One of my favourite things about midnights is how she manages to pull off the cheese in a way she didn’t during Rep/Lover. Like Bejewelled is arguably campier and more juvenile than Gorgeous, but it so catchy that it completely works. And some of the lyrics to Karma are skin-crawlingly cringe when written down, but the whole song is so euphoric and fun she gets away with it. If rep-area Taylor had tried to write that song it would’ve come off try-hard.

This. I completely understand the frustration with the glitchy website and the codes and whatever, but it’s just not that deep. This. Past two eras her single choices have been abysmal. Only Delicate and kinda LWYMMD (not in a commercial sense but it was the perfect era-opener) have made sense. The fact that ME! and YNTCD are literally the WORST TWO SONGS ON THE ALBUM blows my mind.
