Of the artists on the Billboard Top 100 this spring, we looked at the 50 that were most watched on YouTube in the United States between January 2016 and April 2017. Each map shows relative popularity in different parts of the country. If one part of a map is lighter, it doesn’t mean people there weren’t watching the artist’s videos; it just means fans were more likely to listen to a variety of other artists.

Excellent job by the NYT. This confirms a lot of what I see when I post the YouTube weekly recaps (namely, urban music having a huge advantage in the South and a decent one in the Southwest and Eastern Seaboard, and less offensive pop and alt reigning in rural areas/the north Great Plains).

His team actually hates YouTube. The last time he's uploaded an official video during a song's chart run was fall 2015 for Hotline Bling.

 

Not only did One Dance not have a video, they actively removed any video that featured the song (except for one– the SNL performance)
