I dont think she will get to perform at the grammys so she better have other performances lined up

Her not giving af and just letting the song do its thing is also very Rihanna coded. I remember getting so pissed when Rih wouldn't take advantage of so many times she had momentum going nnn.

The contrast between your takes is so fascinating to me and speaks to certain convos I've been having offline.

In short, it's a generational divide I almost find myself stuck between.

As a mid-term millennial, I came into pop culture at a time when promo runs and omnipresence were all the rage. I stand by my stance that the industry would be a much better and much more engaging place if artists and labels actually gave a f**k.

Alas, here we are in a new era of virality, Music videos and performances rarely move the needle (mostly because they suck), and "being everywhere" can literally be posting dance challenges on TikTok and IG stories. It's a bit... ugh and definitely leaves us the fans with...less.

That said, in throwing modern teams a bone. Sometimes it's about striking at the right point and not wasting money. Atm, Chanel is doing well by itself, and the right time to "strike" with a televised performance or radio rounds is when it "needs" or would benefit from a big boost into its next tier of success. That's most likely upcoming rather than a necessity right now.

Objectively, today's industry just cannot compare to the bountiful bliss of befor,e and that kinda sucks.

How is this still only at #47, it should've been a multi-week top 10 hit by now rip

I don't think it's doing that well on streaming overall.

It's just now taking off in the US and it peaked globally on streaming during the holidays skull I think it will peak higher overall on the hot 100 thanks to radio and US streams but yeah the chart doesn't seem to match the impact. Chanel did peak at 11 on the billboard global 200 though so it was doing numbers.. Chanel is not over yet

She had a tour in Asia and Southeast Asia (Japan, Philippines, Sing, India, etc) which helped promote the song in our region.

You need to remember that the song first gained traction / went viral in her core market (South Africa) + Southeast Asia, and slowly translated into other markets (EU, UK, AUS, and eventually US). US is always very slow to pick up her songs compared with rest of the world (same thing happened to both Water and Push 2 Start).

This is slowing down on streaming just as they sent it on radio, I wanna say it'll have a second wind but based on how TikTok fueled it is I doubt rip

Just like Push To Start she released this at the wrong time, just before the holidays took over rip

Could've called that. Perhaps some US promo could translate though.

Really enjoyed this song when I first heard it on tiktok and started listening to it. But ngl it got boring real fast, maybe cuz it's too repetitive...

Seated for the Jimmy Fallon performance!
