Tbh DF is a classic in the Black Community. The singles, especially girl and cater 2 U were VERY urban adult AC as opposed to the pop leaning survivor. and they released the album in the middle of the Usher/crunk Craze. Kinda had to get in where they fit in, and they did it well

    Michelle also had the best selling gospel album of 2002 if I'm not mistaken. DC/New Edition are like … the only two groups that had at least 4 successful musicians come from them. that I can think of at least.
