From her scrapped American debut album from 2017

Horrible production. Wish it was more reggae like Falling in Love

What a waste of an opportunity. She had the right connections to easily score a couple of small hits and DJ collabs. There's no one in kpop right now with her charisma

I waited almost a decade to finally hear this, only to find out the song kinda sucks 

I used to listen to an extended fanmade version of the 1 minute snippet that was posted by her. Funny thing is, that this is basically the same thing.

 

I'm still happy to be able to hear the full song and see the visuals about a decade later!

 

But yeah, it looks like this wouldn't be the "breakthrough hit" back then what they/Scooter were hoping for and they  ditched it to find something better, ending up with basically loosing any momentum she had. They should just went with this and "Lifted" with a back to back release and a cute EP follwing about 2 months later or something. :(

She performed at a random festival here some years ago and my sister recorded some songs for me and ended up actually really enjoying her!

Same, I think Lifted was a better choice for an English-language hit and she needed more than a performance on James Corden to push it. Even Hello ******* and Spicy don't have production as dated as this.

Totally agree! Lifted could definitely be a summer hit with the right collab. All those 3 collapses... CL deserved sm better 

Burn Rubber would have been a better single choice than this... Y'ALL WANTED THIS ALBUM??

Im confused, we had this song and video for years…why are we acting like it's new?

Which one? Or are you talking about the whole effort to break her into the US market altogether? 

 

Long story short - YG sabotaged her, she managed to leave the label and create her own called Very Cherry but she could only go so far as an independent artist.

you're right, not the full thing, but we had long clips of both....enough to fully judge the song

ugh, so badly!!! hopefully something is coming soon now that the 2NE1 tour is over.

the production on the verses is lacking but the chorus would have been iconic during the Major Lazer era

She brought back 2NE1 and they've been on tour since last year. They have some festival performances and a football(soccer) halftime performance coming up. Apparently CL is negotiating with YG to record new music as 2NE1 and CL solo

On this topic, isn't it interesting that in the 2NE1/CL era of KPop, they recorded  and we all anticipated English songs from them, but nowadays groups are blowing up without having to sing the song completely in English? Like APT. - they use Korean language and English in the lyrics and I'm sure there's examples of other songs that went crazy viral and charted on Billboard that were in Korean

 

I think with a bit more of a push and maybe a feature from an American artist, Alpha would have been a hit but as I said, there's only so much she could do being independent.
