So I was playing the ps5 then it died on me because of over heating! My ps5 is well ventilated and I just cleaned it last month so I wasn't sure why it happened. I waited 10 min and turned it on again but died again in less than 5 min. Then I removed the white plate because I suspect that the internal cooling fan is not working and I was right. My question is, is which fan should I get? I heard the 23-blade delta is good. Ugh this is so frustrating 

 

 

Update: working fine now after buying a new fan

Is it under warranty still? I'd just have them replace and/or fix the console

My ps5 is three years old. Sadly, the warranty only covered a year

This is crazy, mine never overheats so much, maybe getting it fixed is a better solution? The only adjustment I made was getting dbrand plates, they look so good and do have better ventilation

Mine never did as well for three years. This is the first time it happened and it's because the internal cooling fan broke. Warranty is already expired unfortunately so I can't get it fixed for free

That sucks...

Mine does overheat a little but nothing crazy compared to other consoles I've had. Guess I should take it somewhere so they clean the dust later this year cause your experience scared me a bit.

I clean mine twice a year and yet here I am. Although I highly suggest to have your ps5 cleaned at least once a year.

Nah. Ps5 is easy to clean. I don't even use compressed air can. Just a light brush under the white plates and the internal fan itself.

Okay so its definitely a blocked vent. You can actually clean it without opening up the entire playstation but you do have to take out the fan but you dont have to take the ps5 apart. What i did was get a small plastic hose  and attach it to the end of my vacuum hose then I pushed it far into the vents closest to the power outlet  and all the vents i could reach and took out the dust. Now this might sound crazy but I also got a toothbrush (new and clean) and tied a clorox wipe around it with a rubber band then i wiped the inside of the ps5 all the way by the vents of the power outlet from the inside. 

 

It sounds crazy but it worked. When resident evil 4 came out my ps5 (that i got in 2021) literally got so hot that it turned off after 10 minutes of playing the  demo. After I cleaned it the way I told you it never turned off or overheated again. I saved hundreds of dollars.  There might by Youtube videos showing you where the power outlet vent is if you need a visual aid.

I'm pretty sure it's the fan itself because I removed the white plate to see if it's spinning when I turned it on, and it wasn't

 

Edit: apparently the fan should not spin all the time. I saw several posts that it might have to do with the thermal paste/reapplying liquid metal. But I guess I could take @Onyxmage advice. I clean my ps5 but only brush the part under the white plates and brush clean the fan itself (without detaching the wires) but not really deep clean

This is where I was heading with that question. Iirc it's only an issue for vertically stood PlayStations though. 

I just got my PS5, and I didn't know you had to clean it every year. I don't typically have overheating problems with my devices except for my Wii U at one point  Did you end up getting a fan?

Well you dont have to detach the fan but you do have to move it out of the way to get in to clean the ps5 vents but like I said you dont have to do anything more than that. Im almost positive its the power cord vent that is blocked with dust.
