I know the album will be amazing. no question.

but the cover looks super cheap.

Ugh the cover is not it. 

 

Im not that fan of Slow Burn either. 

 

Her last album was pretty meh compared to Still Alive and A Stranger Time.

1. Agree, the cover looks someone edited via Instagram story.

2. Still Alive is my favorite album for having the "old" songs officially released, like Chicago and Weight which are my faves. Also, the new adds like Still Alive and Living in Color are great. This is my favorite sound from her.

3. By saying that, Seasons grew on me so much recently, there are very good melodies and lyrics.

4. And because of that, I loved Slow Burn so much.

Glad you made this thread. I was thinking yesterday on creating one for Slow Burn.

I like the album cover; it's the digital release cover from those who pre-ordered the album. The [final] release for February 14 might have a different artwork.

Both Seasons and Salvage have been more mellow, in terms of sound, than A Stranger Time and Still Alive, but it's clear that's her sound.

I pretty much lost her after Cake, but Voodoo is one of my favorite albums. Do any of the later albums have that sound?

Like @steve89 mentioned above, I'd wager Still Alive has come the closest to that Voodoo sound.

Did they all sound like Seasons? like more acoustic.

 

I think in one of the snippets on her Instagram I might have heard some sounds also like her Epic/Capitol sound.

I did re-order the album, so I've had it for about a month now. It's very much more in-line with Seasons in terms of its overall sound and being predominately mid-tempo, but I could also hear a few cuts being from different eras of her musical history. But I do feel like the production is richer in its sound/finishing than that of Seasons, likely due to the fact it wasn't done via Skype but, in a recording studio, which is always going to be a better-sounding production.

I do wish this album had a big vocal moment, but overall it's probably my favorite since LEEC. Her last three albums had little to no replay value for me.

This comment makes my expectations even bigger.

 

I would also wish that her albums last longer. Her albums are mainly 10 songs long.

I'm okay with shorter lengths, numbers-wise. Plus, it's likely cheaper to produce. And I'd rather she focus on producing ten amazing songs than fourteen subpar ones.

Probably Side B was my favorite for the following 3:

- Making Friends with Grieving

- Humbled to Home

It's such a beautiful album.

I didn't like Seasons and this one didn't click with me either. Some songs have potential but they feel underproduced and some of them even uninspired.

I get she's a mom now and she doesn't experience making music the same way she did 10 years ago but she could do way more than she's delivering lately…
