As an Australian, it's impossible for anyone to do our accent authentically.

 

As far as I'm concerned, only 3 people have ever succeeded in doing it. Kate Winslet, Meryl Streep, and Dev Patel.

 

And dare I say, Kate's was even better than Meryl's. But that's because Meryl's accent was an Australian who moved to Australia from New Zealand when she was 20…so I guess it was a very nuanced hybrid-accent.

 

Dev Patel's accent will always be #1, but Kate's was also brilliant.
