I asked a non-biased source, ChatGPT, to summarize Gaga's and Katy's music careers from 2019-2024. I chose the past 5 years so we're not living in the past and bringing up dusty receipts.

1. **Album Release – *Chromatica* (2020)**:
   - In May 2020, Gaga released her sixth studio album, *Chromatica*, which marked a return to her dance-pop sound after her previous jazz and country-influenced projects. The album featured themes of healing, resilience, and mental health. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was a commercial and critical success.
   - The album produced hits like "Stupid Love" and "Rain on Me," her duet with Ariana Grande, which became a No. 1 hit and won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

2. **Collaborations and Singles**:
   - In 2021, Gaga collaborated with Tony Bennett on *Love for Sale*, a jazz album celebrating the music of Cole Porter. This was their second collaboration, following *Cheek to Cheek* (2014). *Love for Sale* received critical acclaim and multiple Grammy nominations, reflecting her versatility in crossing genres.
   - Gaga continued releasing singles from *Chromatica* and participated in several collaborations, further maintaining her presence in pop music.

It was highly successful, selling out major arenas and stadiums worldwide.

4. **Las Vegas Residency – *Enigma* (2018-2021)**:
   - Gaga's *Enigma* residency in Las Vegas, which began in 2018, continued through early 2021. The residency featured two distinct shows: *Enigma*, focused on her pop hits, and *Jazz & Piano*, where she performed stripped-down versions of her songs and jazz standards. From 2019 to 2024, **Katy Perry**'s music career saw a mix of album releases, live performances, and continued chart presence:

1. **Album Release – *Smile* (2020)**:
   - Perry released her sixth studio album, *Smile*, in August 2020. The album featured singles like "Daisies," "Harleys in Hawaii," "Never Really Over," and the title track, "Smile." The album's themes revolved around personal growth, overcoming challenges, and resilience, reflecting her own journey through struggles with mental health and public scrutiny.

4. **Live Performances**:
   - Despite not touring extensively during this period, Perry performed at high-profile events, including awards shows, television appearances, and the *Play* residency. Her performances often showcased her signature colorful, playful style.

5. **Shift in Musical Focus**:
   - Following *Smile*, Perry shifted more toward live performances and television, especially her role as a judge on *American Idol*. While she continued to release music, her focus on full-length albums decreased compared to her earlier years.

It's obvious enough these two women are on different career paths.

No shade to Katy as everyone is dragging her enough rn but i always thought the comparisons were dumb.

Gaga was always (and still is) bigger than her in terms of popularity, only during ARTPOP she had an underwhelming performance next to Katy's PRISM, but that quickly changed back again and then Katy started to tank really hard. People really try to rewrite history but they won't

Yeah, only from 2013-2017 could you say Katy was bigger and more popular but fame-wise Gaga was always ahead and from 2009-13 and from 2017-now she's always been both more popular and more famous. With the fame she achieved during her peak she only needs to remind people now and then that she's still active and that's it, her fame is intact. With Katy people are FORGETTING she's there.

It was super trendy to drag Gaga in 2013-14 and mock her for being a "fad" but the dumbest of people would notice that whenever she did ANYTHING she drew as much attention as Katy did when she was announcing a lead. The amount of attention her Oscar ceremony got just proves to you how exceptionally huge her celebrity status is and it won't just go away like that. Katy never reached that.
