now if it was against jb's boyfriend then it would've been a very difficult choice for me, but in this case... avril very easily!

Boyfriend and it's not even close. Girlfriend was obnoxious when it first came out and it's still obnoxious now. 
 

Melissa's first two albums are cute, but Ashlee devours her in the albums department to be quite honest. Melissa would kill to have songs like Coming Back For More, Dancing Alone, Eyes Wide Open, Love Me For Me, Endless Summer, Undiscovered, Giving It All Away, Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya), Boys, No Time For Tears and Little Miss Obsessive in her discography.

Girlfriend gave Avril her sole #1 hit, but it alienated a large part of her fanbase..  Her career wasn't the same after that.
There are better songs in TBDT that could've been the lead, idk why she chose the cringiest one.
