The GP said no to both of these; they don't like Katy when she does ballads but which had more redeeming qualities?

Imo Rise is Katy's best empowerment song, it's one of my go to hype songs

 

Both have great videos but Unconditionally is the definition of aesthetically pleasing

    Rice has the better lyrics and is a better ballad

    I'm a secret "Rise" stan but "Unconditionally" requires no secret stanning... it's just a classic and Katy was right to fight for it being a single over "Birthday" at the time.

    Katy wanted Uncle, Capitol wanted Birthday. Dark Horse was only ever intended to be a promo single, but the GP said YES.

    I’ve always hated that ugly god awful song Rise. I’m convinced it killed her career.
