Artists that can learn from Tate McRae?

Featured Replies

As we all know greedy by Tate McRae is a massive global single and shaping up to become her biggest hit to date. Tate is not letting this moment pass by and is dropping an album to capitalize off of the success from greedy. As many would’ve expected, she isnt waiting for a second hit song nor is she waiting months upon months or even a year to release the album, with risks that the hype will die down. She really said “honey i have the eyes on me know and WILL drop an album”

What artists can learn from this strategy? To not wait on a new moment but just go with the hype now the success is here.

Ava Max

Zara Larsson

Anne Marie

Rita Ora

Ellie Ghoulding

Normani

Chloe

Normani should've released right after 'Motivation', Chloe right after 'Have Mercy'. Even with it being way smaller hits than 'Greedy', after all Tate did release her album 'i used to think i could fly' last year with way smaller hits than 'Greedy' too. So Tate and her team already have history of smart choices/not being on the label fridge/not being afraid of flopping.

but the thing is: artists/record label should be less afraid of flopping. especially on streaming era

it's okay. release it without an out of this world promo, release it without an out of this world budget, but RELEASE it.

if it's starts clicking u will get bigger playlisting, u will get bigger budget... look at Sabrina's "e-mails i can't send'. it started somewhat 'slow' in everything (stream and promo) and look at her now! Her and Tate are good examples. And if it doesn't click... well, at least u fed ur audience and u expanded ur catalog (something very important on streaming era.. anytime u can have a hit).

i really wanna know why she didnt drop it in nov 2022 tbh :rip: maybe republic wasted all pvc in the world on midnights vinyls

An easier list to compile would be artists who have heard of Tate McRae.

She learned from Olivia, her bestie!

But yes, artists (the ones that are still up & coming) should strike while the iron is hot. She probably already had a lot of songs made/the album almost ready anyway, since I don’t think any artist can have one ready in like a month.

Yes, she is doing things well but this is more of a record label issue. Tinashe and Normani are under RCA and we know that label stops promotion or even an era at the first sign of flop :biblio:

btw using a big hit to release an album is not enough for these types of acts. We already saw it with Bebe, Anitta or Anne Marie. :bloo:

Tate is from RCA too. Probably artists have a word on it, idk, it's all guessing. of course she has a #1 Global hit with Greedy now so everything is different. But maybe she was 'ok' releasing her album last year without a huge budget since she didn't have a huge hit on her last album and the same didn't happen with Normani for exmaple? she wanted that budget even without a huge of a hit? ....

idk idk. labels are to blame but in those cases i feel like artists sometimes are to blame too.

Yep, you're right.

Sometimes it would be the high expectations of the teams and the ego of the artists. idk about Tinashe's case, but I think Normani wanted a debut similar to C*mila's.

I'm actually happy for her that she plays her cards right and is able to release an album, you can barely see new artists do that nowdays :deadbanana2:

Her promotion on TikTok is on point.

learn from who? :bibliahh::bibliahh: be for real

the artist who is currently #3 on global Spotify, and can actually release an album and tour

Tate is actually dropping bops.  Not many global songs have been good but she's done that :clap3:

Ngl im more for Tate than Olivia even though I kinda like GUTS

Think most artists should take a page outta Tate's book. At least for the new young artists

Pia Mia.

But the sabotage it always a label issue. It’s them who keep the artists from releasing. Tate is very lucky to get such a quick roll out and to get those tv performances booked. I really hope it doesnt get pushed back.
