La Tortura appreciation thread

This was arguably the best song to come out of the Oral Fixation era and got overshadowed by Hips Don't Lie. But IMO it's the better song and was the first all Spanish song to be performed at the VMAs. I thought it was a missed opportunity for her to not include it in her VMA Vanguard set so let's praise it and give it its flowers now:

Perfect lead single to her best album

I’m still pressed she didn’t perform it at the VMAs. Amazing song and perfect lead single!

HER BEST SONG (wtf why I had the the idea Hips Don't Lie was from like 2001? lol)

YES. I was shocked she didn't include it in her Vanguard set. Such a missed opportunity

One of her best spanish songs. She was in her creative peak here. A good cocktail of reggaeton-flamenco-pop

There's an english version with some added english lyrics in the chorus

Really. For a Spanish video in that era it got a LOT of play on MTV, so very surprised that she omitted it.

TIMELESS! Shakira has released many bops over her career, but this is the one I constantly go back to and think of when I think about Shakira.  Like she had TRL playing a fully-Spanish-sung song/video to North American audiences before it was even a thing in the US. Talk about iconic! :jonny5:

it's one of her best song, shame is kind of forgotten (even Las de La intuicion is more remember)
