but it probably won’t do as amazing as it might have since Barbie and Opp are dominating all discussion this past week. 

There was no promo in the budget. A shame really because the movie is actually extremely enjoyable 

Is it a flop though. The highest grossing MI is just less than 800 million, this one is already at half of that.

bad release timing on Paramount’s part, Oppenheimer eating up all its IMAX screens (+3 weeks) 

Releasing it in the middle of the Barbieheimer mania has got to be one of the worst decisions in movie history 

There are quite a few reasons why:

• bad release date

• the fact that this movie was pushed back almost 2 years (people lost interest after it was delayed 5 times)

• it wasn’t as good as Fallout (although topping that movie would have been almost impossible - that film is arguably one of the best of all time)

• kinda bad word of mouth (especially for fridging Ilsa (that was extremely dumb ). 

• atrocious human villains (should’ve brought Henry Cavill’s “August Walker” back somehow, that villain was incredible)

• bad promo (horrible trailers)

• the fact that 99% of the promo was about that motorcycle stunt (which I thought didn’t quite make sense in the movie). They should’ve promoted more the train sequence cuz that was incredible 
 

I think the movie will have legs. Really stupid of them not to wait until august to release it. The movie is great and I believe has a good CinemaScore so word of mouth is likely very positive

They should've waited for a fall release tbh. And also the whole Part 1/Part 2 money grab thing doesn't work in cinema anymore.

People can blame a bad release strategy, but it was expected for months to dominate over Barbie and Oppenheiner only for the reverse to happen. 

 

While it could have done better in a less crowded release window, it was always kneecapped by its comically large budget. A breakeven point of 700M+ for the 7th entry of a series is very ambitious.

They literally put the trailer in theaters starting a year ago, during the run of Top Gun: Maverick. They fumbled this so badly.
