Supercut sounds exactly like Green Light to me. Literally the piano loop is... the same thing.

    Ribs is lowkey the only song from PH I go back to these days. I was obsessed with the entire album but it's too coming-of-age'd for me these days + it reminds me a lot of my HS years and I've outgrown

That's part of what makes it great. Green Light, being at the start of the album, chronicles how Lorde can't escape the feelings towards her ex and how she is desperate to get the green light to move on but she can't let go yet. Supercut, being towards the end of the album, intentionally recycles that piano loop because it is the foil to Green Light and portrays how Lorde is finding closure with her feelings towards her ex: accepting the beauty of the relationship and realizing that the memories are a cute, little supercut she'll play to herself at night but she's no longer angry for being unable to forget about them.

 

I personally love how it loops back to Green Light instrumentally because thematically they're the exact opposite. Their placement on the album really elevates Melodrama as a whole as well.
