Also Thank god this versions of Fast Car is local to the US, because it never deserved to outpeak the original by Tracy. Same problem as that Put Your Records On cover that erased the racial subtext of the original and made it easier for white america to connect to the lyrics having more success. Criminal lol

I really wish my younger faves had as much success as she does out the gate the pop landscape needs to start propelling more Gen Z stars up the charts. It’s amazing how her and Billie in particular have connected with the GP at such a young age, I think it shows that they’re gonna be around for a long time regardless of a single song’s success.

This is so true but at least Tracy approves of the cover and it helped her score a record on the very discriminatory white-male dominated country charts. Never mind the fat royalty checks she’s getting

Ot, radio will keep the song afloat and streaming is stable so hopefully it'll rise in the coming weeks though I feel like they'll move on to single 2 and I doubt it will pass fast car this week, isn't the radio on that ridiculous?

I love this song and hope it has some longevity. The only thing that separates me a bit from it is that it’s not screaming Summer. I wish she would have released it in early spring or the start of fall. Still I’m so excited to see how this single plays out and hoping she drops single 2 prior to the album like last era!!
