Smash hits with terrible recurrent streams!?

Featured Replies

So I was shocked recently to find out that the mega gigantic songs listed are doing horribly in daily streams:

2020

"WAP" - 405k daily (1.17B total)

2019

"Dance Monkey" - 680k daily (2.8B total)

2018

"Girls Like You" - 273k daily streams (1.53B total) 💀💀

2017

"I'm The One" - 174k daily (1.17B total)

"Despacito - Remix" - 225k daily (1.61B total)

"Havana" - 405k daily (1.88B total)

What was the reason? These songs were like gigantic. Like mega mega smashes but why are they so forgotten?

In comparison I'm gonna use my fave. These older & less successful songs are doing even more than them somehow 💀:

2015

"Love Me Like You Do" - 750k daily (1.6B total) - it hit 950k daily like a month ago btw

2013

"Burn" - 298k daily (656M total)

sadly, E.T. by Katy somehow got totally overshadowed by all the other TD singles when it's one of her best songs

400k daily isn't terrible, just meh

It's terrible for smashed as gigantic as Havana. And also Girls Like You is doing less than 300k daily. That is horrendous 💀 literally even less than Ellie's Burn.

You have to combine both versions. One version is doing 267k. The other 144k

Besides Girls Like You, all those songs you listed aren't that bad?

They simply peaked. What else is there to discuss?

Girls like you was one of the biggest songs of all time....how did it go from being a potential classic to doing less than 300k streams daily?

The song wasn't as big as the ones mentioned in the OP though. But yes that's pretty bad.

Swae Lee is doing even worse I think

They are kinda bad though when you have songs like Maroon 5's payphone doing 1m daily streams.

Dance Monkey + Havana aka the biggest female songs of all time in the streaming age. Doing 680k + 400k daily respectively is just...💀

No, he has Rae Sremmurd songs

None of biggest hits are doing 40k daily

don't think the OP recurrent streams are exactly terrible, but yeah they are all underwhelming.

work from home would probably be doing more streams if 5h were still active and girls like you/havana would be doing more streams if m5 and camila cabello were still successful with their latest releases, WAP was very trend-focused and dance monkey is a mess, recurrent streams should be lower imo

Both got so overwhelmingly overplayed people just stopped listening to them.

I think you both are right. It's the fact that they're overplayed + trend focused.

These are doing just fine. These songs are getting more daily streams than entire "hit" albums from last decade.

For my fav:

Royals is from 2013, and still doing 415K+ daily on Spotify with 1.02 Billion streams  It's good imo :bird:

Christina Aguilera's 'Come On Over Baby' was a multi-week #1

49k daily on Spotify

Britney Spears' 'Hold It Against Me' a US #1 and global top 10

17k daily on Spotify

Edited by Mr. Stratus

girls like you were also the MOST "next-played" song on youtube i've ever seen in my life and there it's still sitting "strong"
