It was Diamond technically worldwide back in 2003 for selling 12 Million copies. But the U.S RIAA only accounted America sold copies and it sold 6X platinum. It was only until now that they updated it.

Pure sales + single sales (certidied units) Get Rich Or Die Tryin' has 10.7M units

This is 42 Million in single sales certification (counting Wanksta) and he debuted before iTunes & Youtube existed.
