I don't see why SM would need a new girl group right now (especially a band ). This year will be make or break for aespa, and Red Velvet still has some album sales growth left in them I feel (they could easily reach 1m sales for a comeback by the end of 2023 I feel).

 

They really need to prioritise debuting their new boy group or a new Korean NCT unit. Contract renewals for most of the big NCT members are happening in the next 12-18 months and 127 will become inactive soon once enlistment starts (and as much as Dream akgaes pretend 127 make no money, they do). Also Sungchan, Shotaro, and those 3 new male rookies are just rotting in the dungeon. 

 

SM has to be one of the dumbest companies ever, cause why are they forcing Baekhyun into EXO and SuperM promotions right after his enlistment ends instead of getting him to work on his first full album? No wonder HYBE ended them with ease.
