He had one of the biggest hits in recent memory with ‘Stay’ which had insane longevity on the charts and was tipped to be the next Justin Bieber. His follow up single ‘Thousand Miles’ bombed into oblivion and his hype seems to be over. What happend? Does he need Bieber for a hit? Has the GP moved on? Discuss!

Zero artistic identity. Being a receptacle for generic writing camp hits only gets you so far. “Without You”, “Stay” and “Thousand Miles” all sound like they could be sung by anyone. Nothing personal or distinctive about them. His vocals also sound like Post They’ve also marketed him like a cheap hybrid of Bieber and Post Malone. People want artists, or at least people they believe to be artists.

 

It’s unfortunate because he’s so young and it’s unfair, but if after listening to three hits you have zero idea who this person is as an artist beyond some vague angst, you’re in trouble.

There is no musical identity. He is totally faceless and lacking any sort of originality. He isn't particularly good looking or talented.

He was like the Teen version of Post Malone he is not doing anything new or creative… Stay is a trash song, still don’t get why it was a huge hit
