I think it's pretty amazing that BEFORE she had even released her own album, she had collaborations with legends like Jay-Z, Mariah Carey, Usher, Kanye West, Christina Aguilera. And then she landed Rihanna AND Eminem features for her debut album, and then collaborated with Madonna a year later. And Britney Spears. Beyoncé shortly after. So early in the game she had all the veterans itching for a Nicki feature.

 

Who was doing it like her?  The other rap girls (Megan, Doja, Cardi, Iggy etc.) have had their own successes but have never had the legends on the side like this (sans Savage Remix).

 

So how was such a new and unestablished artist so in demand by big names?

it’s giving bitter … this is based off talent, recognition and acclaim. Absolutely no artist has praised cardi’s talent and she does not compare to the demand Nicki had. Get ur head out ur asss

This is not meant to be an insult, more an observation…

 

Reading this thread makes me think how much they industry has changed.  Nicki’s career is/was soooo dependent on co-signs and respect.  Which she deserves, b/c she’s talented.  But none of that matters anymore these days.   
 

Like, literally…social media MADE the next three rap girls hot (Cardi, Doja, and Meg).  None of them had big co-signs.  

 

Its just crazy to me how so much **** has changed.  

 

 

Not really! Its because there hadn't been a female rapper in years, and then she came out swinging, capturing pop audiences as well. And she was really talented, of course very beautiful. Female rappers hadnt really penetrated the mainstream market like she did. There were successful female rappers in the past like Missy and Lauryn Hill but they werent mainstream like Nicki was, so her come-up was like history in the making.  And she did great imo. 

 

Olivia's come-up was good too, thats because there was no-one relatable for gen z, and there had been a void for a female pop star. Billie was becoming unrelatable. Theyve never really witnessed the rise of a popstar like Lady gaga, rihanna was, so Olivia was kinda like a rare breed. Thats my take.

Not this again  I'm not even a Nicki fan but ya'll really need to stop this level of delusion, Cardi literally does not (and did not) come close to Nicki
