that’s too young :deadbanana4: i can’t even see myself getting married until like 35

just be honest with him, communication is key if you really love him

I'm having a similar problem..

My boyfriend and I are dating for 3 years and he's always saying he's ready and wants to marry. I don't. I still want to wait a while..

I was lucky he said something and didn't propose cause it would've been messy and awkward.

I talked to him about it and he said he'll wait.

If he truly loves you he'll wait too.

What difference a piece of paper makes at the moment?

As long as you're happy together he can wait a few years.

I believe you should do the same and talk to him about it.

Simply tell him one day, but not anytime soon. Let him know in no uncertain terms that while you do love him, and would like to marry him one day, that those intentions are not relevant right now. That way it saves him the embarrassment of getting rejected, and it could ultimately save the relationship afterwards.

For such a serious relationship where a proposal seems possible, both should feel comfortable enough to talk about their hopes and future plans. That's how one should hint at being ready for a proposal or pull the brakes on it happening anytime soon. I recommend you bring up the subject and find a subtle way to make it clear you don't feel ready. If they were still to propose knowing how you feel about it then it probably will kill the relationship, but by preventing it to happen before the right time is how you save it.

My bf & I dated in 2017/2018, then we split & got back together in late 2021. Things have been going well but he’s been talking about marriage lately, like heavily.

I love him but… man I’m 20 & he’s 21. Ask me in 7yrs ?

He’s been getting me gifts (I hate getting those lol) & I’m nervous, I know I’ll say no if he does ask me but I don’t wanna ruin us.

If I say no, are we doomed?

When you talk about it, be clear about what you want. If you don't want to be married before 27, say that.

Make it clear that you love him and see a future with him but you're just not ready for marriage yet.

If he, for some reason, needs to be married by 22 then your priorities aren't aligned and it isn't going to work. I would question the judgment of someone who cares that much about getting married so young anyway. If he loves you, he should value your opinion and value you as a person over a ring on his finger.
