Foxes - 'The Kick'

Foxes has announced details of her forthcoming third studio album The Kick due for release February 11 2022 via [PIAS] Recordings. Alongside the announcement, Foxes has shared the first single to be taken from the album, ‘Sister Ray’ which was produced by Ghost Culture (Daniel Avery, Kelly Lee Owens) and the accompanying video directed by Florence Kosky.

Foxes’ forthcoming new album The Kick was created from a place of isolation - written and recorded remotely via zoom during the height of the pandemic, it offered a form of vivid escapism for Foxes, real name Louisa Rose Allen. Inspired by the desire for freedom that the world collectively shared over the last 18 months of lockdowns, the near-animalistic desperation to socialise, and a longing to dance again, Louisa naturally pivoted the sonics to feed that escapism and create a record that simultaneously feels close to her euphoric, dancefloor-filling pop roots that brought us hits like ‘Let Go For Tonight’, ‘Youth’ and ‘Body Talk’, while still feeling completely fresh. Unafraid of the art of the well-loved melancholic-banger, lyrically The Kick touches on themes of loss and heartbreak, narrating painful places and soundtracking new beginnings to create an album for the post-pandemic world and a summer of never leaving the party early.

New single ‘Sister Ray’ is the first single to be taken from The Kick. While inspired by the Velvet Underground song of the same name, the single takes a more anthemic and electronic approach akin to Robyn. On the single, Louisa says, “'Sister Ray' came from a wild part of me during lockdown that was craving a night of freedom and fun again, a longing to let go. The velvet underground reference is a nod to describing the most debauched night you could ever imagine but in its spirit it’s a celebration of the people you can have those indescribable times with. I wanted to encapsulate that energy in a song so I could imagine that feeling forever.”

Forgive Yourself remains the best pop song of 2022!

:clap3:

Whew. A literal mastermind for creating that masterpiece.

I’m going to need Louisa to tour the US however ! Anywhere she performs I’ll be there.

The entire album is still amazing, Two Kinds of Silence and Potential are aging exceptionally well :sats:

I was hoping she’d get booked for LA or NYC pride. Definitely didn’t happen. Unless she gets a support act slot, I don’t see us getting to see her at all :/

I was hoping for Coachella. :monkey:

She’s already working on new music.

Plus, she’s also mentioned how she’d like to release Alpha and Wild Woman.
