I tried years ago, and then turned out much slower than typical ATRL/TUMBLR GIFs, kinda had to give up and asked for others to do them for me.

ok omg I’m glad it’s not just me. I was trying to learn how to make a gif in GIMP a couple weeks ago to make my avi, but it turned out like complete garbage compared to this one I made on some random site called EZgif

Oh certainly not! I didn't know gifs could be made with GIMP.

I  HIGHLY recommend Instagiffer, it's what I use to make all my avis with these days!

 

and ezgif is actually an amazing site to edit gifs, I always use it to change the gif speed to normal/remove frames or lower the filesize.

believe it or not i was banned because i was fuming over nicki getting banners or something and took my frustrations out on them
