Yeah, it was my first jrpg, technically, though I got into them pretty late, after high school. My friend gave me like 100 PS1 games back in the day, and none of them were jrpgs, so I wasn't exposed to them and had to seek the games out myself later. I do like FFVII quite a lot, and I also watched Advent Children long before playing it, so I couldn't understand wtf was going on.

Oh yeah, Advent Children is hard to follow even if you are familiar with the game 

 

Remake isn't as good as the original imo, but it's a fun game by itself. They really dragged out some of the sections to make Midgar into its own game, but the combat and the materia system are addictive.
