10. Kenshi Yonezu & Hikaru Utada - JANE DOE

An anticipated collaboration (by some) between two industry giants for Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc (I've seen that swimming pool scene...). While not as huge as Kenshi's solo A-side, it's still one of the signature hits of the year. Some elements of the song work for me, some don't. Maybe I just can't get over my misandry. Kenshi strikes me as more bearable than Gen Hoshino, I guess, though LEMON was quite a menace, his Torisetsu.

mathekr: both of hikaru's releases this year are good but forgettable.

romiskes: Kenshi's sound with Utada's vocals was something i didn't knew i needed that bad, that was AMAZING

conatus: Kenshi's voice is such a jumpscare. Girl you sound a mess!

8/9. Miliyah Kato - One Last Kiss

It may be hard to believe, but Miliyah gave birth to her third child last year. And yet she's as busy as a bee, not hiatuses, no breaks. One Last Kiss was dropped two months after the event. Remember another song with the same name? Truly Utada's daughter. To me, One Last Kiss was a return to form. I didn't care much for those collabs, and #Tokyo Life was a chop. This track, on the other hand, is reminiscent of Miliyah's peak stuff. And maybe reheating your own nachos isn't such a bad idea.

Kana Nishino, Suilen's most unwelcome, is terrorizing us again after her unwanted comeback. With You was another chop fresh from the conveyor belt, this one, however... is her best song since 2014 (and also her biggest flop since the debut). Yes, there were times when Nishino was good, either ironically or genuinely. Her latest EP didn't show much growth, and I wouldn't necessarily refer to this as growth, it's just... something different for her, and it works. Not exactly her Love Tricky moment, but maybe she'll get there one day.

Curaga: Kinda cute, but it feels like it's leading up to a climax it never reaches.

7. Perfume - 巡ループ (Looping Loop)

As of yesterday, Perfume are officially in a cryosleep. I think it's safe to say that they're practically disbanded and that Nebula Romance: Part II was their final record. The project had 4 singles, one of which was released... 2 years before. Meguru Loop is their last single, and it resonated with the audience the most. While I have mixed feelings about the whole Nebula Romance duology (and Perfume in general), I thought it was a decent swan song.

Curaga: Anachronistic, but in a good way

conatus: Tbh Perfume have just always been a little too saccharine for my tastes and this is no exception.

Kyle-x: Oh wow, this was a welcome surprise. This is excellent.
