The Mrs Carter Show vs I Am World Tour

Which Tour is BETTER and WHY?

Gif of the Day:

Mrs Carter if it had better spotlight. The whole thing always looked kinda dark, like buy a super trouper or something

I Am… has a better concept, if only she didn't stripped so much of the original production

i used to looove mcst but looking back, it has lighting problems (lighting on her) and the tour feels a bit random (even tho is tied to 4) and its just a reduced version of the revel concerts (aka wynn vegas new years eve concert but for arenas)

I can see Single Ladies never being performed again :coffee:

I don't think so. If she still performs when she gets older that will easily be the setlist staple. I could imagine Beyoncé doing the legends slot at Glastonbury one day like Diana or Dolly and singing Single Ladies while bopping to it over the likes of Formation, Run the World or any other lead single.

I rarely listen to Single Ladies and it's felt tacky for the longest time, but I feel like it might make a comeback and win its popularity back anytime. Like, I could see someone getting a smash from sampling it or the song getting popular somehow in tiktok.

The slow opening of the RWT did not work at all (on its own it was a stunning vocal showcase, but had no cohesion with the rest of the show whatsoever, and the 'beyonce opening for beyonce' thing wasnt conveyed well enough for it to be a funny switch-over once Rennie started).

On top of that, Cuff It's performances never never worked for me (she never managed to nail the delivery of her 'we gon **** up the night' head voice line), nor did Virgo's Groove (really, thats the song you're staying completely still for?).

RWT has some career highlight moments for me (Heated, Cozy, BMS, Pure/Honey, even Church Girl) but it's not her best setlist and it wasnt her best tour. It was her most fun, and I loved it, but it was obviously rushed and just didnt completely work I'm afraid.

On that topic, she needs to stop with these sunglasses during live performances. I'm not sure if they help boost her confidence or if it's purely a fashion choice, but it cuts her off from the audience completely and they render her charisma mute. TAKE THEM OFF MA'AM!

I disagree.

The opening was executed that way for a specific reason, in fact the inside tea was revealed last winter.

Anyhow, yes. Both Cuff It and Virgo sound good only when they are actually live. Those pre-recorded vocals are indeed unnecessary, but then again we assume she was still sort of in pain, given her limited mobility at the beginning of the tour.

All I know is that Cuff It needs to be 100% live next time, I mean, the live part sounds heavenly.

I could see that being that most of Beyonce's shots in No Angel were shot in AUS in an attempt to look like HTX. Also Flawless was def reshot. The first half of the video looks closer to Aug. 2013 (XO) and the heavier choreo elements on the second half resemble the short hair she had during the AUS MCSWT dates. I'd show proof but I'm busy lol!

Thanks for confirming :heart2:

At this point it's true... Bow Down was the first video to be filmed. I also remember an ig post with Bey, Michelle, and Kelly watching something on a laptop while smirking. Minutes later that pic was deleted :rip: that was definitely Grown Woman. This happened right before the start of TMCSWT, so it's probably when she planned a visual album for ST.

It makes sense, since a few months later in Summer, we knew she was shooting a video for XO at Coney Island.

Yeah, I do remember everything. I had all of the tea saved on my computer

That section would have been better if it was those though. An opening of DIL, Listen, Halo, Irreplaceable etc, wigs would fly.

The biggest kii was Rather Die Young in the middle of the set list. :rip:

I mean, yeah. Listen and Irreplaceable are fantastic, which is way I'd like them to make a comeback.

The RDY situation is actually pretty easy to explain. It fits the Funk/R&B/Soul section, and it's also a song that Bey loves.

I ADORE her for removing Thique and AUIYM, but keeping RDY and the opening set. She doesn't give a **** anymore, it looks like she wants to do whatever she feels like. And I respect her for this.

I'd say Mrs. Carter.

This entire interview and the question the interviewer asked makes me cackle.

Yes, I book marked the video where it happens. There's another video with the angle you see me at, but we don't need to see that one

IAWT is just Beyoncé

TMCSWT is Illuminati BEYONCÉ

2011-2020 isn't even comparable to the what she's given and what she's trying to sell us on. THAT was the time to stan Bey in all her glory. Not too accessible, but not too exclusive.

As much as I love the whole shoot and the art style she went for the tourbook, it feels all over the place and not connected at all :gaycat6:

FORMATION is Bey's BEST Tour.

Let's discuss why, if you disagree state your case.

Please note that if you are not tagged it doesn't mean you can't participate. I just don't remember everyone's names

This is correct.

I'm sorry but she was a beast on this tour. Her dancing and singing for 2.5 hours straight. The setlist is perfect. 6 inch?!!!! Wild.

RWT has beautiful gowns gorgeous gowns but FWT is Beyoncé at her peak. And it's sleek and cinematic. I wish we had a copy of it. I'd much prefer it has her definitive performance over Coachella just in the way she incorporated technology (since she had been experimenting with the screens since 2011) into what she does best.

I've ragged slightly on the RWT lately so I'll say one thing:

The End of Time/Cuff It Wetter/Energy/BMS/Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough/Vogue/Queens Remix sequence is impeccable

Regarding the tour discourse, FWT will always be her best tour, hands down. One of my biggest regrets in life is not finding a way to see that show live. Yes, the RWT is a lot more fun, colorful, vibrant, and vocally way more impressive. It can easily be seen as her best tour in other regards, and I much prefer the aesthetic vision and concept of Ren, but none of that really compares to the apex performer we got during the FWT. That setlist doesn't have a single dull moment (whereas RWT's energy kinda plummets around BP/MP and outside of Heated and CIL doesn't really pick up again. I could feel people sighing and getting antsy before AHAP even started, and "Summer Renaissance" being the awfully executed closer that it is didn't really help :rip: yes Halo is tired as hell but it just WORKS as a closer, while this didn't (still loved the outro remix tho).

The lack of hits during RWT really takes a toll on the overall energy, and the audience seemed a bit confused or uninterested during songs like Church Girl (I'll never not cringe at her telling people to "go crazy" while she literally stands there doing nothing :deadbanana4:).

I loved RWT's stage, screens, inclusion of props, and especially the cinematic camera angles (those were absolutely chef's kiss and her best ever. Getting your performance to look like a highly choreographed music video LIVE is devilish work :clap3:. But i just loved the FWT screen more and the whole futuristic robot Ren concept kinda falls apart around the middle of the concert, the storyline could've been a bit tighter and better executed throughout the whole set idk.

Lastly, while I do love seeing her bubbly, more carefree, fun side on stage since OTR II, I'd rather see Beyoncé the perfectionist robot idc, that's simply what sets her apart from other performers, and it's one of the main reasons I fell in love with her :alexz3:

Literally the most joyous moment I've experienced in a live concert. I'm still so mad we did not get a live album. :rip:

I do wonder whether it's because the sheer number of samples (including Milkshake) would just be too much of an expense legally to clear

I'm sorry but there is just no way The Formation Tour is better than the Renaissance Tour.

:rip:

She's one of the very few artists who's tours were better than the last one they did.

A very rare feat.

The interludes/segues were ten times better on RWT. I mean Opulence and Memories alone >>>>>>>>>>>>

RWT and FWT are objectively superior tours, but there's something about Bey's showmanship throughout The Beyonce Experience that will always make it one of my favorites. I almost prefer the stripped stage production, but that could also just be nostalgia at play.

One true criticism I have is all of the smoking, like does she really need to glamorize smoking as often as she does?  Like it doesn't look cool :rip:
