A Bday TV (Beyonce Version) would EAT. Just imagine what shed do with the record today with the expertise shes acquired throughout the years Irreplaceable with her modern-day production techniques. Honestly, even a simple remaster would do wonders for B'Day (and DIL). 1

tachiwaka Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I've never thought Beyoncé and Kelly sounded so much alike that I couldn't tell who is singing, but is Kelly NOT singing harmony on Ameriican Reqiuem? Either she is there uncredited or they really do sound so much alike. 1
Arrogant Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I will never forgive whoever made that video of minions singing OH LOUISIANA, because you have effectively ruined it for me 1

Other than Love Drought, Formation and DHY (and DL and Freedom at times), I dont really listen to the songs separately like that. In comparison, CC, while also adressing heavier topics, has a much more positive outlook (+ the songs individually are much more easy-going). Its way more uplifting in its essence, similar to Rennie and 4. Thats why 4, Rennie and CC are the essential Bey albums. It feels like being super close to Beys core as a human being and performer. Rennie is the final form of Sasha Fierce, CC the final Form of the I Am Side and 4 is just Bey to the T. Not you eating with this great take. 1

Yakult Posted April 8 Posted April 8 (edited) The sooner people realise that daily Spotify streams aren't indicative of an album's legacy the better. Playlisting plays a massive part when it comes to these numbers; which mostly represent singles success which make up 90%+ of "album" streams in most cases. Beyoncé's legacy as an album artist is beyond solidified. Besides, Lemonade is consistently charting on AM and even on Spotify B's album tracks get a lot more streams than basically all of her peers. U just cant deny greatness like that 3

There is a specific "Now is the time to face the wind" that definitely is not Beyonce, it might be Kelly or one of the girls featured on Blackbiird.

It's always so low on the Hive's rankings and the recurrent streams aren't that great. I blame the Tidal exclusive. its not my personal fav (i gotta be in certain mood to stream it in full). but i will always have respect for lemonade. its a very monumental moment in her discography. the music, the visuals, the aesthetic was tastefully done. we got to see her vulnerability & she successfully shown pain, frustration, humiliation, fear, resentment, denial, forgiveness, etc. that outlines how a typical [black] woman would feel when theres troubles in ur relationship. also i love how she connected slavery to black love bc most black women (and some black men) feel stagnant or trapped in a relationship, and in the album she highlights u can make the choice to move on or work things out. but yea i do blame tidal too. formation alone could have been 800M streams on spotify by now. sorry i was in my @swissman bag for this. mb cause i usually drag lemonade. 4

This is such a great interpretation/explanation. I was revisiting it today and kept being amazed by the musicianship and the way she connected all those different themes. The visuals are excellent too and feel inseparable from the music. (2016 was such a great year for music.) 1
swissman Posted April 8 Posted April 8 the thing about tidal and Lemonade that bothers me most is not that it was an exclusive for so long (per se) but that Beyoncé was just about the only artist from the launch who did anything like that. if there were any exclusivities from those involved, everyone's albums had a week's exclusivity and it was for sale and on other platforms. I really think that had everyone kept their word as BEYONCÉ kept her word, at the very least Tidal might've been bigger, big enough that it being a TIDAL exclusive didn't prevent people from listening to being able to casually listen to the album. 1
