He's huge, especially for his age but he isn't the biggest artist in the US, especially in the past 4 years lol. In that same time period, Drake has outdone him at every turn. He's been the second-biggest in that time frame, though. He gets that easily.

2018: 1. Drake, 2. Post Malone

2019: 1. Post Malone, 5. Drake

2020: 1. Post Malone, 5. Drake

Sunflower and Circles are bigger than anything Drake has released in that time period too

There are things I could also use to prove that Drake has been bigger through the last 4 years, lol. From 2017-2020, Post Malone has only outstreamed Drake in the US once and it was in 2019, the year Drake didn't drop an album and he barely outstreamed him. Despite Drake not dropping an album that year, he moved almost as many album units as Post Malone did. Every other year (2017, 2018, 2020), Drake has outdone him easily.

I never said Post Malone wasn't huge. He just hasn't been bigger than Drake in the last 4 years. In that time, Drake has scored more hits, moved more album units and gained more streams than him.

Drake has released more singles/features, yet both Sunflower and Circles are bigger than any Drake song released in that time period. Post was higher on the year end artists chart despite only having 2 or 3 albums in the years provided. Drake also has about 12 albums/EPs/mixtapes/playlists while Post has a total of 3 albums :dies: Drake out streaming him overall is not a surprise

Right now, Post is bigger than Drake in the US. It could change when Certified Lover Boy drops.

I feel we underestimate how massive Post Malone is. Both Hollywood's Bleeding and Beerbongs & Bentleys are eligible for at least 5x platinum already. He's easily the biggest artist of the past 4 years, at least in America.

globally as well

hes also a touring force as well

I don't know. Drake has the advantage because he releases about 10 singles a year, whereas Post Malone sticks to his own album material. In 2017, Post had Stoney and Drake had More Life. Stoney was substantially bigger. Then Post had B&B and Hollywood's Bleeding back to back, I would argue both were bigger than Scorpion. At the very least, Hollywood's Bleeding is definitely going to outsell Scorpion at this rate. And internationally, Post Malone is definitely bigger, but that's mostly to do the fact that he is less hip-hop oriented.

How are you using 2 songs as a point that Post is bigger than Drake in the US? Weren't Sunflower and Circles released in 2019 and as a part of the Hollywood's Bleeding album era? Drake's last album era was Scorpion in 2018 and Drake's singles/album that year were bigger than Post Malone's so I'm really lost. Drake hasn't dropped an album since 2018. Post Malone dropped an album in 2018 and another in 2019.

Post Malone barely outstreamed Drake in 2019, a year where Drake didn't drop any albums, that alone tells me all I need to know.

Post Malone drops like 3/4 singles per year/era and takes his time pushing each single. Drake drops like 12 singles per year (including features) and pushes multiple songs at any given time so he spreads himself thin. That's why he doesn't have as many lead artist hits as huge as Sunflower/Circles. Post Malone's features flop and he does very few of them so all his streams go towards his own songs. That's not the case with Drake. Drake's features smash just as much as his singles as a lead artist do and he does many features every year so you using 2 Post Malone singles being huge as a way of saying he's bigger than Drake makes 0 sense.

Like I said, Post Malone is huge and on any day, he's the second-biggest artist in the US, but he damn sure isn't the biggest. It's also good to remember that Drake is 12 years into his career still putting up the numbers he's putting up lol.

Drake's features perform well commercially. Post Malone's features don't and he doesn't do nearly as many features as Drake does. Drake being able to score massive hits as a lead artist and still score massive hits as a featured artist (because he's always bigger than any artist who features him) is a rarity. Very few artists can do that and infact, he's the only artist whose features perform as well as their lead artist material so how is that some sort of negative? More Life wasn't an album. Has 0 music videos. Only 2 songs were pushed as singles and those 2 songs got sent to Urban/Rhythmic radio and that was it. They didn't get any videos or any extra promo. He didn't even get to perform any of them because he was done touring by the time More Life dropped.

If Drake ONLY focused on himself as an artist and didn't do as many features, his hits would be a lot bigger because he wouldn't be spreading himself so thin every year. All of Post Malone's streams yearly go entirely to his own material. Drake's streams are split between his own material and features.

I never said Post Malone wasn't huge. I have him as the #2 biggest artist in the US in the last 5 years after Drake. The fact that Drake releases as much music as he does and it all smashes year after year is a rarity. I don't get how that should be a negative. No one else can do that. They'd burn out quickly but Drake is still here, 12 years into his career going strong.

Posty is the biggest artist of his generation. I give him that 100%. I just don't believe he's bigger than Drake in the US. At least, not yet anyways.

When you are a good person, unproblematic in music industry and makes good music :giraffe:

Post is bigger than Drake the last few years as evidenced by the YE Artists Chart (see: Post being #1 last year with 0 of his own singles released during the chart year while Drake released multiple & an ‘album’)

The random Drake insertion :noparty:

Beerbongs and HB were bigger than Scorpion despite Drake’s unprecedented Spotify playlisting.

rockstar is Diamond yet has more streams than the 11x platinum hit God’s Plan, Psycho and NFW are both 5x platinum, and Better Now is 6x platinum while IMF is 5x platinum. And both those songs also outstreamed Drake’s. Drake has a massive catalog with countless hits and releases multiple singles a year so him outstreaming Post overall sometimes is not surprising :rip: Doesn’t mean he’s bigger right now (look at his recent chart run).

OT: Five diamond plaques soon :celestial6:

He definitely flies under the radar as he doesn’t really have much of a public profile.

It works really well from him because he doesn’t suffer from burnout and his music is considered cool and public playlist friendly by the masses who don’t want to listen to music by people their mom knows about.

Also he releases great quality songs.

Post Malone is definitely the biggest artist in the U.S since 2015, absolutely.

He’s humongous and rather Global also.

I’d love for him to do a feature/collaboration with Rihanna or Beyonce it even Billie Eilish; I wonder what that would sound like.

He has outstreamed him every time since 2016, except 2019 when Post Malone dropped an album and he didn't and Post Malone still barely outstreamed him lol.

Also, not you basically answering the very reason why Post Malone's singles are bigger :dies:

Post Malone's 2018 hits (songs released in 2018):

Psycho

Better Now

Sunflower

Wow

Drake's 2018 hits (songs released in 2018):

God's Plan

Nice for What

In My Feelings

Nonstop

Yes Indeed

Look Alive

Sicko Mode (he's a huge reason why the song was successful, even though he wasn't credited officially)

Walk It Talk It

Mia

Going Bad

Notice the number of singles Drake pushed in 2018 and how many places his streams got split into compared to Post Malone? Every song I listed peaked in the top 10 and is multiplatinum with 400-1B+ streams on Spotify.

All of Post Malone's hits in 2018 had him as the lead artist. For Drake, only 5 of those songs had him as a lead artist (he has co-lead credit on Yes Indeed). All the streams from Drake fans that went to Look Alive, Walk It Talk It, Mia, Going Bad and Sicko Mode could have easily gone to Drake's own songs otherwise lol.

Post Malone is a huge commercial force. There's no debate about that. But all of you are casually ignoring the fact that Drake's features take a lot away from streams/sales that could be going to Drake's own songs and how Post Malone doesn't have to deal with that happening to him because all his features flop and he rarely does features anyways.

How is has he been the biggest artist in the US since 2015 when he's only ever been the most consumed artist of the year once? :dies:

i mean i like him and his music, but hes serving faceless singer tbh. not that its a bad thing really

Drake didn't release an album last year, stop it lmao. A mixtape of leaks and demos isn't an album.

The Year-End chart starts it's tracking in November and that's one of it's flaws (that's why Taylor Swift could have the #1 album of 2018 when Scorpion was clearly the bigger/better-selling album but only missed the #1 spot because it was released 8 months into the Year-End tracking period while reputation was released at the start of it. It also happened back in 2016 when Views was the biggest album of the year but missed the mark because it was released 6 months into the Year-End tracking period while 25 was released at the beginning of it). Post Malone released Hollywood's Bleeding on the 6th of September so most of it's weeks in the top 10 fell into the tracking period for the 2020 Year-End. Same thing with Circles, which spent 39 weeks in the top 10. More than 70% of those weeks were in the tracking period.

Most of Drake's songs last year were features so most of their chart points went to the lead artist and he didn't release an actual studio album. He released a side project which means less units moved and less weeks in the top 10, so there.

Those are hits? Sure they went Top 5 for a week but they’re not even double platinum (or platinum in Nonstop’s case)

You just proved my point though. Post’s hits come from his albums. Drake puts out dozens of features and tracks plus an album or mixtape. He’s a hitmaker of course but he hasn’t had any song last as long as rockstar or Sunflower since God’s Plan. Post’s hits tend to have more staying power as do his albums. I don’t think any Drake album charted a year in the Top 10 like BB&B almost did and HB did.

Drake oversaturates himself. I’m a fan but there’s a reason he keeps pushing this album back, just saying.

Nonstop has moved over 5M units in the US and Mia has moved over 3M units in the US. They just haven't been certified.

"There's a reason he keeps pushing his album back." What? :skull: Tell me the reason, please. I'm curious.

HB bigger than Scorpion

B&B bigger than Scorpion

They're all (yup even Stoney) outstreaming Scorpion daily too

Sunflower, Circles and Rockstar bigger than any Drake sing since Hotline Bling

It's over

Who else can follow him? Shawn and Billie seem to have quite a way to go to get there.

Not people ignoring that drake outstreamed him bc he had more singles lmao

More singles don't always guarantee more success, he can't force people to listen to them :skull:

a huge catalog really boosts your streaming numbers if you’re a very relevant artist. drake is undoubtedly bigger overall, but Post has beat him the last few individual years
