but that had a rolling release and i think when artists release like that the discrepancy is smaller between the counter and the chart.

honestly i expected ~12m but this is still gigantic. stomping on our faves for sure. 

The general public loves Taylor songs like this. Exhibit A is We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. Exhibit B is Shake It Off. This is the kind of music they want from her. Fans are rewarded when the actual album comes out and then she drags the general public into buying the album cause they liked the initial single. 

 

Reputation wasn't like that and was strictly driven by her fans. LWYMMD was loathed by the general public and even radio was like nope. 

I'm honestly just here for her knocking that ex-Barb out of the #1 spot, so it doesn't get 10+ weeks at #1.
