No reason to speak as if Taylor's "run" on radio is over. She's stumbled a bit do to some questionable decisions, but she's still very much "in" to the pop audience: See: album sales and touring.

They just NEED to release Delicate next.

Her power is on a decline. Her sales aren't what they used to be (no one's is, so that's understandable). Her streams are lackluster. The one song on Reputation that should be smashing on pop radio is struggling. Yes, her tour is doing great but that's more to do with her star power and previous work. But even that doesn't last forever. Katy and Gaga grossed 200+mil from BTW and PRISM and then went on to gross under 100 with Artrave and Witness Tour. It'll be interesting to see how her touring holds up... But as a performer she's no Beyoncé.

Of course she could still bounce back with her next album. But I also thought Gaga could too :cm:

And can someone explain to me how Halsey became a radio force? She's doing better than Taylor, Katy, Selena, Miley, Demi... Like HOW? :deadbanana4:..

I'm not even a hater. I love her album, though NON & BAL I would rank bottom half.

"Perfect" reached 200M AI overall (at least according to Kworb).

hope that Tay and Riri won’t have ageism problems. They look still young and fresh.

I think riri will be fine, she’s literally on her way to #1 on urban radio as we speak. She’s still seen as “cool” and she’s pretty universally loved by the media and gp lately

Taylor's concerts are selling fairly well. But her decision at some venues to raise the top price for "VIP" seats from $125 all the way to $500 means she's less likely to sell out every venue. Her ticket sales are good, but not as strong as those of her 1989 tour.

Interesting. Is this common? Like in the last 10 years or so how many songs have hit 200 Mill AI? And have they all been Hot 100 #1's?

This is the list (AI peak, year) from as far as I could go on Kworb (last 5 years):

Spoiler

Perfect (200M+, 2018)

That's What I Like (229M, 2017)

Shape of You (250M, 2017)

Can't Stop the Feeling (208M, 2016)

One Dance (205M, 2016)

Love Yourself (202M, 2016)

Hello (222M, 2016)

See You Again (212M, 2015)

Earned It (209M, 2015)

Uptown Funk (249M, 2015)

Thinking Out Loud (204M, 2015)

Stay With Me (222M, 2014)

Rude (213M, 2014)

Am I Wrong (216M, 2014)

All of Me (272M, 2014)

Happy (305M, 2014)

Dark Horse (224M, 2014)

Wake Me Up (203M, 2013)

Royals (232M, 2013)

Roar (223M, 2013)

Blurred Lines (292M, 2013)

Mirrors (210M, 2013)

When I Was Your Man (206M, 2013)

Locked Out of Heaven (209M, 2013)

Of the 24 songs to reach that mark: not all of them were Hot 100 #1s (Earned It #3; Thinking Out Loud #2; Stay With Me #2; Am I Wrong #4; Wake Me Up #4; Mirrors #2), but only one wasn't #1 on Radio (Thinking Out Loud peaked at #2 for obvious reasons).

I still feel bad for TOL. :emofish:

Happy 300M AI wtf :deadbanana:

Blurred Lines and Happy are the two highest-peaking AI radio hits ever in the US. :deadbanana:

But while Happy was bigger on Mediabase, Blurred Lines was bigger on BDS:

Quote

"Happy" peaked with 226 million in weekly audience on Radio Songs (April 19), the second-best sum in the chart's 23-year history. Williams also factors into the only song that's logged a better total: Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," on which and he and T.I. are featured. The smash drew a weekly high of 229 million (Aug. 31, 2013).

Pharrell's 'Happy' Is Radio's Most-Played Song of 2014 (So Far), Billboard

Either way, it's crazy to think those songs reached that much audience in a single week. :deadbanana:

TOL was a huge hit blocked by one of the Top Five songs of all time, and #1 for the 2010s. This has happened several times in Hot 100 history. Not only did TOL outrank every other #1 except for UF in 2015, but M5 Sugar also finished at #5. Also, there were several consecutive weeks in 2014 where Happy, All Of Me, and Dark Horse all finished with 200 M+ AI.

As Top 40 increases its practice of grossly overplaying its top hits, MB 200 M+ AIs will remain increasingly common. If the #1 song at Top 40 has 125 M (with a select few close to 135 M+) from all stations airplay alone, it only needs 75 M between HAC, AC, and Rhythmic for 200 M AI. The bigger songs usually get another 5-10 M in AI from Spanish stations (1-3 of the subformats) too. Also, they may tap into AAA, UAC, Smooth Jazz, Rhythmic AC, Dance-Mix Airplay (those three formats are extremely small), Alternative, and maybe even Active Rock. Shape Of You and Uptown Funk (250 M) got support from all of these formats except for Alternative and Active Rock.
