Spotify | Katy Perry - Watch It Burn | Day 24: 184,313 streams
Oh and for reference, this is what it looked like back in 2012, when it was actually relevant: https://web.archive.org/web/20120112122318/http://www.digitalsalesdata.com/diydsd.php?Region=143441 Compare it to the numbers today: http://www.digitalsalesdata.com/diydsd.php?Region=143441 Still, in the US, it has a tiny impact today. Maybe a teeny tiny one in the UK. Rest of the countries? Negligible.

Anyone still think of this Witness snippet? I love the production, and it ends with a beat drop of sorts?? I could kill to hear it in full! And of course, Save Me Some Tonight. I yearn for Witness 2.0, but I know we're never going to get it :( And by Witness 2.0, I mean the songs that felt introspective and the ones where she truly had something to talk about, like Witness, Roulette, Power, Mind Maze, Pendulum, Dance with the Devil.

Katy Perry - "Watch It Burn"
I feel like bandaids is a better song lyrically than Watch It Burn, and in general, her discography. With TOTGA, we see what happens before and after their breakup but we don't really learn why they breakup? Whereas, for bandaids, we see what exactly went wrong with the relationship, she didn't feel the love was being reciprocated. My favorite line on the song is "it's not so complicated, to ask me how my day is", the delivery, the emotions and its position in the second chorus, all of it is perfect! On the other hand, Watch It Burn has a lot of TikTok phrases but they somehow work without being too cringe. I do think it's interesting that for both the songs, the second verse and the bridge/outro is her still looking back fondly on the relationship and being grateful that it happened. And that also feels like the same way she described her relationship back in Never Really Over/Small Talk. So, I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if they got back together lol.

Still no YouTube link? That's... concerning.

Katy Perry - "Watch It Burn"
I don't think Harleys in Hawaii got anything. That was not even released on a Friday I think, after Small Talk, they completely gave up lol. Ngl, if Woman's World didn't get it, I don't know how Watch It Burn will get it. WW was the comeback single after four years and there was definitely some amount of hype there. There's no indication WIB has surpassed that hype nor any that Katy's team has gotten better. So, a measly song performance, here we come!

Katy Perry - "Watch It Burn"
I thought Daisies got a few weeks? Like not Top 10 or anything very good but some TTH exposure? But I don't think any of her songs have gotten TTH after that. Small Talk really delivered the final blow to her streaming for sure.

Katy Perry - "Watch It Burn"
But seriously, when was the last time she got TTH? She didn't get it for Woman's World right?

Katy Perry - "Watch It Burn"
I'm thinking a #75ish Global Spotify debut, with maybe 2.1 million unfiltered and 1.7 million filtered streams?

What's the tea on why 143 turned out like it did?
I am not going to say she is blameless in the involvement of Dr. Luke, because she is big enough to say no, but the only thing I can believe in is that the label might have interfered in the songs themselves. I don't think Katy has ever extended her songs on the live versions like she did for 143. Most prominently, All The Love comes to mind with the tour version having an amazing final chorus and outro. Nirvana has a better, more full sounding drop, Artificial has an outro? And that's only the songs we hear on the tour. I wonder if the 1437 rumors were true and whether they were the original full length songs.

Katy Perry - "Watch It Burn"
Yeahh I was following this until I saw Harleys in Hawaii, she is committed to not singing that song anymore. I'm going to say this is fake just based off HIH
