Lady Gaga's new single is "underperforming" for reasons that are hard to overlook. Despite being a massive name in pop, it seems like Gaga is recycling her old formulas, banking on the gritty electro-pop sound that worked a decade ago. While it might appeal to die-hard fans, the truth is, the song might feel "outdated" in 2024 to the younger market. In a year where music is dominated by fresh, viral sounds from younger artists like Addison Rae, Gaga's "Disease" lacks the relevance needed to stand out. Gaga's brand of "shock value" and over-the-top theatrics don't seem to have the same pull they once did, and "Disease" hasn't sparked the kind of viral social media moments that drive modern chart-toppers. Even Tate Mcrae, who was barely in the pop scene a couple of years ago, is generating more buzz. .
