  1. Sales! because vocals are a part of the sales. You can't really have sales if your vocals are bad. But you see, sales are not only about vocals: Sales are about the 'It' factor, and the 'it' factor includes more than just vocals. 'It' includes vocals, performance, relevance, appeal, talent, and relatability, etc. Sales result from the 'it' factor. You could be the best vocalist in the world, but it won't mean anything without the 'It' factor. You can go throughout the history of music and find bad vocalists, but they had excellent performance and composition ability that made them stand out. Look at Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. They weren't labeled as great vocalists, but they had the 'It' factor in the ability to write songs, have infectious melodies, and to tell stories, and to command the stage. They had the sales not because of the vocals but more than the vocals. I think the purpose of this thread is only to trigger specific fan bases. There is that underlying tone in your use of semantics.
  2. The fact is that Taylor is already in the Stratosphere, and no one will come close. Everything that needs to be said has been said and achieved. This is common when you are on top. Now, if she were starting out, then you'd have a lot to talk about, especially in the base thread. When Swift has special chart or music achievements, they are usually discussed in the 'Chart' or 'Music' forums, not in the base thread. Discussing in the base thread does not diminish her popularity or achievements.
  3. Not generic at all; I've seen musicologists on YouTube describe it as a five-beat per measure song that has never been done before; It also follows a Shakespearean iambic pentameter scheme that most pop does not follow at all. Call it what you want, but its popularity is probably due to the underlying melodic genius that I just described.
  4. Oh, wait! Maybe Whitney had seven separate number 1's between 1985 and 1988, which makes sense. I interpreted the results wrong!
  5. Yeah now that I see it, it doesn't make sense. I only did a search and It was a google search, and the AI result, I copied and pasted. So, I don't understand the reason.
  6. According to the AI google search: Whitney Houston: Holds the record for the most consecutive number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, with seven from 1985 to 1988. So it's feasible that Taylor will tie this!
  7. 338,000 is still massive! It is not about percentages. It's about magnitude. 4,000,000 first week is a high magnitude amount. It is bound to decline percentage wise. If Swift had 13,000,000 first week sales, she would still have a million dollar second week with a 92% drop. Would you still be saying that the second week drop still matters? It doesn't matter when the magnitude is high to begin with. Now, it would matter when your sales aren't high to begin with. If sales were 150,000, then a 92% drop to 12,000 matters more than a 92% drop from 4,000,000 to 338,000.
  8. Some of you are so deluded: The Life of a Showgirl has the highest 2nd week sales this year, beating Morgan Whalen's I'm the Problem, which logged 286 000 in its second week. It is so apparent that you trolls are not accepting reality. Complain to Morgan Whalen or all of your faves, who can't hold a flame to Swift. I guess that is why you troll so much, due to the inferiority complex you feel.
  9. Oh! All these stupid threads! The only reason for them is that you are very insecure and jealous. You are so frightened that your favs will never achieve the status of Swift, so you have no choice but to try to take the cancel approach. But to me, your blabbering is actually indicative of Swift's success. She is the best artist since The Beatles, and here you are, crying in disbelief. You all are probably sitting in a dark room somewhere, drowning in a bottle, screaming, 'Oh, poor me!' And then you make threads whose only message is 'Blah! Blah! Blah!' You should look in the mirror and figure out your misery and lack of understanding of reality.
  10. The amount of jealous people in here who chose to live by their delusions because they can't handle the truth. If you hate Swift that much, then one day you are going to wake up and realize that the main point has nothing to do with variants, but the fact that 4 million copies were sold. It's like if some kid in high school had four chocolate bars in his lunch, you'd blame him for robbing a store to get them. "Oh, my God! It's not possible! It's making me sick," you'd say, but the truth is she sold 4 million copies and you should leave it at that!
  11. I look at it this way: Every other artist out there has the same chance to produce variants (and they do). Every other artist has the chance to build a fan base as strong as Taylor's. Every other artist can promote as much as they need to. Now, given these facts, why can't they compete? There must be a reason, and it can't be made-up excuses to soothe your ego. If Taylor Swift sells 4 million, then she sells 4 million, despite all the excuses in the world. It's like throwing spaghetti at the wall to see if it sticks, but it keeps sliding down. It is all about facing facts, then feeding your delusions. The truth is that Swift is the biggest artist since The Beatles, and no excuses or delusions can change that, especially now. The track record is there; its been proven (over and over).
  12. In fact, it is a greater feat to sell the same album twice, as most artists who have done so only sell a minimal fraction of the original. Also note that each new re-record is not entirely the same, as there are 6 or 7 new songs in the vault tracks.
  13. Come on! She's an artist and all artists need to express themselves! In an artistic world, swearing is common. Can you imagine watching a mafia movie or a horror movie where the character doesn't swear and is instead a quiet talker? It would defeat the purpose of the actual art and make it less authentic. Imagine in the excorcist, The possessed Regan saying Fudge instead of **** or in The Godfather, Al Pacino saying Fudge off instead of **** off! Which sound more authentic and true to the feeling of the art. It's all about expressionism. Of course, a lot of Taylor's art is autobiographical, but her swearing actually enhances the expressionism.
  14. Where do you get 60k (x2). It was reported back in November 2023 that 70k (x2) had already been sold. If anything, she could break The Weeknd's numbers.
  15. Taylor wrote the song and can perform it anytime and anywhere without permission. Rihanna probably cannot do the same without getting Taylor's permission. Do you see the difference?
