I'm aware… but I'm starting to see more and more b*tching about the production being atrocious, there being no melodies at all, how she lost all passion and a mixture of how people both want her older sound back but then are also heavily criticizing her discography as a whole. I never disagreed about the discourse regarding the album's length (as I've clearly stated in my previous post) - but I'm still enjoying the album and not ostentatiously writing it off as unlistenable just because the songs are shorter or don't have a bridge. I've been a hardcore Tove stan since 2013 and I will never be afraid to admit if I don't like a song or if I like an album more than another. There are plenty of songs in her discography that I loathe. I'm just saying that the hate towards this album, in particular, feels a little forced / harsh. As if she hasn't been a sexually-charged synth pop girly from the start? Not every release has to be her magnum opus. She was also very straight forward that she had writer's block this time around and I'm just glad we even got a new album. I think she made some great bops given the circumstances.

I'm getting really really tired of reading all of the relentless b*tching and moaning about this album... as if yall possess some kind of pop musical prowess If she released a rehash of her old songs yall would be criticizing her saying she doesn't know how to experiment or do anything different. It's a lose-lose when it comes to online discourse. This album is full of bangers. The production is killer, the melodies are there and there are definitely some sounds on here that give 2014/2016 Tove vibes, for sure.... I think some of you wrote this album off from the jump and aren't allowing yourselves to enjoy it. Is it my fave Tove album? No. Is it her best? I mean that's subjective, but probably not. Is it a great album full of dark synth pop bangers? Absolutely. My main critique of the album is that it's too short. Most of the songs feel unfinished in the sense that they're just verse, chorus, verse, chorus and synth outro. Very few bridges. I wish they had a bit more meat to them cuz some of the songs are leaving me with blue lips (no pun intended) -- but, it's not because I'm not enjoying them. It's because I'm greedy and want more lmfao. But I'm also not a les miserables, and I'll take all the Tove bops I can get. Do I hate that most songs are under 3 min? Yes, but I'm not going to let it deter me from enjoying the album. I don't always need to listen to 3.5 - 4 minute songs all the time. I'd say my top 3 (aside from the three singles, which I love all of them) as of right now are: FAMT, Source of Life & The Bad One FAMT may be one of my favorites from her ever! And I'm sorry, but I think "I'm The Cake" is a BOP. Some of yall take yourselves way too seriously

The theatrics in here Even if she's not releasing "Talking Body" or "No One Dies From Love" level masterpieces, Tove ALWAYS delivers and makes great bops. I'm Your Girl Right? and Des Fleurs are both 10/10 for me My only complaint of the l-worded songs are that I feel like she's trying to make awkward sounding phrases/words like flow/rhyme within her melodies. DNH is an absolute banger but the "you're still my best friend when you ruin my night" doesn't like click with me in terms of melody (still love the song tho) I'd say Are We On A Break is the most boring, but still enjoyable -- "Die For My Art With A Lonely Heart" is interesting. Definitely a grower. And yall are so dramatic, I'm The Cake literally sounds like a banger. She's been explicitly up front about how she was having a hard time writing for this record... but she was still able to create all these bangers (so far)!!! Why must we always have a rehash of older albums? These are all dark, gritty, dance club bangers which is exactly what I was hoping for.

The chorus and production are so good but like seriously?? It feels unfinished like Rock Music is super short but it works. This is so disappointing. Its like a portion of a great song. I love her so much, and this has the potential to be great but I'm like so…. Perplexed? Idk like why is it 2 min flat? The spoken word verses take up the whole song… It's serving amazing interlude that never became a real song

Curb-stomp this trash, Ashley from NJ! I genuinely don't understand why this weirdo thinks so highly of himself and that he's some master of music and that his opinions remotely matter?? He's quite literally one of the most pompous and arrogant content creators ever. He has the most punchable face, too. He was definitely a loser growing up who feels like he's cool now bc he gets lots of views and creates online music-related discourse. Oh and him working for radio eons ago classifies him as some kind of musical savant? I genuinely can't even stand hearing this man's name - and this is coming from someone that has only ever seen clips of his review videos. Could never bring myself to watch a full video. But I guess I should shut up now bc I'm just feeding into his inflated ego. He's the type that probably seeks joy from people getting hot n bothered by his reviews. Literal sociopath energy.

Hi I need to vent about the Hot 100 and how I've been feeling about it lately (and by lately I mean like the last 5-8 years lol): While yes, each year of the 2020s thus far has had it's standout songs and major hits - I just feel like the Hot 100 has become a parody of itself at this point. I mean if you look at the Wikipedia pages for the top 10s of 2020-2026, it's just a sea of neon blue (which signifies a top ten debut). A majority of these top 10 debuts are from major album releases or just quick little "viral" songs that vanish into the ethos after 2-5 weeks. Now I'm not negating some have lasting impact and become "bigger hits" - but the charts are starting to look so cluttered and sloppy. No shade to anyone in particular (as I am a big Taylor fan, but she is one of the main culprits of this) - I'm tired of the "album bombs" and artists occupying the entire chart. I feel like there has to be a more accurate way to portray what's popular amongst all genres. Every time a big artist releases a new album now, the whole top 10 (and Hot 100 for that matter) are destroyed and it takes weeks for it to build back up. And then you have some artists relentlessly trying to manipulate the charts - in terms of sales and streaming - which is just embarrassing ( yes, I could love Taylor's music and still call her out on her b.s. lol) You could argue, "well it's a reflection of what's popular that week" - which is true to some degree, but I look at the hit songs (and top 10 debuts/album tracks) of the 90s, 2000s, 2010s and almost get sad -- they all still felt worthy of their placement because it was an actual accomplishment and were a part of the zeitgeist. And even when a popular album was released you wouldn't see 5-10 album tracks flooding the top ten or the whole album on the chart. Moving forward... I will never say that the Hot 100 should be a singles-only chart, however, I do think they could brainstorm some ways to limit demolishing the charts, especially when any big-name artist releases a new project. Lately, the chart trajectories have been looking beyond messy - some looking like: 1-11-15-6-9-35-24-1-6-8-12-17-10-19 (and so on and so forth) - and I'm like... what? (We can definitely thank the yearly holiday song re-entries for this...) This may be taboo of me to say, but the yearly Holiday song re-entries are just so tiring, too. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Christmas bops as much as the next guy, but the same songs flooding the charts for 6-8 weeks every year is just unnecessary. What's the point of the Holiday 100 chart if the Hot 100 becomes that each Christmastime? Now, I'm not saying no holiday chart entries allowed - but I feel like there could be stricter rules. "All I Want For Christmas Is You" is probably the biggest song ever made, there's no denying that, and I love Mariah rightfully reclaiming her record of longest-running #1. But is it really necessary for it to eventually obtain every single record seen on the Hot 100? Especially when all these "most weeks" records are separated by ~45 weeks each year. One of my biggest issues is when I see people arguing about radio's inclusion / weight in the Hot 100 formula. I've always advocated for the inclusion of radio in the formula. Now, I don't deny there are flaws -- radio holds onto songs for ages and refuses to let them go. They tend to reject "current" songs - or they take forever to catch on and when they do the song is no longer popular. Nonetheless, I always felt like radio is what cements songs as "hits" - it gives them longevity and lasting impact. I think some forget that you don't just hear these songs on your morning commute in your car - radio songs are played all over: from the mall, the supermarket, restaurants, bars/clubs. It's disheartening when people want it erased completely. Yes, payola sucks but there's also streaming payola too, no? In my opinion, while streaming is a necessary inclusion in the formula, it has definitely cheapened the charts. The amount of hit songs that missed out on the Hot 100 top ten over the past 6 years because either radio or streaming didn't align. Additionally, songs on big streaming platforms like Spotify or Apple Music are unstable. A song could be #1 for 2 weeks in a row and then fighting for a spot in the top 200 a few days later. I don't think it's fully an accurate portrayal of popularity either. And if the streaming interest for the song isn't demolished, then the song still misses out on a top ten placement because all of the album tracks of a major artist's new album have to block it from getting there. Streaming is equally at fault. Regardless, I don't have any ideas for remediation - it just feels good to express these feelings. If anything, Billboard should at least try to rehab their glitchy mess of a website. The constant video pop-ups, the freezing, the artist pictures not ever loading. It's horrendous! -- TLDR: Billboard Hot 100 formula needs an adjustment - top ten debuts and album bombs are tiresome - Holiday songs every December are monotonous - radio is necessary but has flaws - streaming is necessary too, but also has flaws - Billboard needs to makeover their website without the insufferable glitches. Anyway, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk lol - if you read all of this I appreciate you so much <3 - if not, I understand cuz it is a lot. I just wanted a space to vent about the absurdities of Billboard with some that may relate (no one in my real life even pays attention to Billboard or music charts in general lol).

I want this to go top 10 so badly, but I'm very scared it's going to miss out on it. I guarantee in another month this will be top 5 on overall radio and it will be struggling to stay in the Spotify top 200. Which is so infuriating, I feel like most "hits" nowadays are like this (for example: Lola Young's "Messy") I thought this would've been top 5 on the Hot 100 by now, but the 2025 leftovers and album bombs are keeping this one out.
