Culturally, there's several reasons for this, but most predominantly (if we're using Spotify listeners as our barometer which in the age of bots is absurd), and this has been written about, it's a circling of the wagons. The same thing happened with Morgan Wallen and Chris Brown. Polling with Gen Z and Millennials isn't budging on this issue so the implication they've had any impact or will as a result of this changing opinions is objectively false, regardless of the white soccer Moms that will continue buying their tour tickets.

There's so much that's already been unpacked here thoroughly, and I know I'm shifting goalposts here, but anecdotally, I'm really genuinely relieved and somewhat thrilled at how much traction this story is getting. Hoping it's the throughline for a lot of folks that (even in good faith) out of sheer exhaustion, cynicism, horror, or all three, have avoided following this conflict.

I've read other takes that the fact that DNC funding is so abysmal is a sign of how ascendant progressives have been which I know has been unpacked here already. First and foremost, how divided the party is has been underreported. I hope that's finally changing.
