She really shouldn't have been a one hit wonder, this incredible song barely scraped the top50 in both the US and the UK charts. Its such a contrast to "B*tch", in the best way possible. Its melodic, subtle almost trip hop-like production is very pleasing to the ears, plus its super well written, and incredibly sexy too. This really should've been a smash hit!

    Oh, wow! I'm surprised to see someone giving props to this track here! I always thought this would be a better follow-up to "*****" than "I Need", as it showcased versatility instead of doubling down and sounding repetitive. What's done is done, though.

    Tbh I cant even remember how "I Need" goes, even though it got MTV play. This definitely should've been the follow-up

    Same. I do remember it goes something like "I need this, I need that...". A bit similar to how "*****" goes with "I'm a *****, I'm a lover, I'm a child...". It's quite alike in that approach to the lyrics. Maybe that's why they chose it to follow it up. But it was a dumb decision, as it pigeonholed her instead of making her branch out and show a different side to the audience. Way to turn someone into a one-hit wonder. Such a shame.

    And then she returned in 1999 with the mediocre "Lay Down", she had no chance of getting rid of her one hit wonder status
