Honestly, I found this quite random (unless I'm missing something from before I started stanning them which was less than a year ago), since they've been reaching new peaks and then Maria comes up with this project, I'm quite confused.

 

I'm quite interested to see how this will be different from the The Marías stuff.

Always thought it would be interesting seeing how her work would sound like without Josh as they usually write together, and her being a Hope Sandoval stan makes me even more excited for this project

Are you ok? What's so confusing about having an external project? It was pretty obvious it was gonna happen. 

 

The Marias is coming with a new album too.

I'll be honest, I think the name "Not For Radio" is so faceless and I'm also not sure how I feel about changing the Submarine album cover to de-center Maria. Maria IS the star of The Marias whether they like it or not, and she should continue to be the face of the band even if she goes solo. The original album cover was iconic.

 

Anyway, I'm still excited for the music and will be streaming regardless

It probably will be, but the snippets also remind me of The Marias (and as he said on her stories, this is basically an "extension" of that).

 

Hopefully it's a lovely project.

I should have bought the original cover but I didn't want that simple black vinyl.

It's a good record. A bit more piano based and dreamy than The Marias. The one saying Beach House was right. 

 

I think it's not as "catchy" as The Marias, at least on first listen, there is more place for experimentation. The last few songs reminds a little bit more of the band. 

I like it, but overall it feels like it could be a mellow The Marías record
