Things are getting quite confusing.

 

Their (local) sales have been quite worrying tho, the album sold 855 copies in its first week. So I think we might be around 2-3k sales in Japan. Quite different numbers compared to other LDH girl groups.

 

Their popularity, while not being mainstream, is definitely higher overseas which is probably due to both the music direction as well as their marketing. But from now on, things could get tricky:

 

1. Will the focus be kept on overseas territories or will Japan become more prominent?

2. Who will handle both overseas and local activities?

3. Will Bloodpop be involved?

4. Who will fund (and support) future releases?

 

Also, imo, Sugar Free Venom was a wrong choice for the collab. It's way too interchangeable. Something more memorable and less western should have been picked in order to let group shine. So far, Underground remain their best song because of that.

 

They often share posts on IG and TikTok with tracks by Perfume and Tommy february6, but the point about those artists is the fact that they almost always include catchy and bouncy choruses. f5ve have interesting tracks, but most of their discography (which I enjoy) lacks that "punch" the tracks they share from other artists actually include.

 

I said it before, but they should probably try to create some early-Perfume music and release Electro World 2.0, especially given how some western artists (see Kim Petras) are starting to switch towards maximalism.

 

 

Anyway, I received my CD a couple of months ago, but I ordered it via CD Japan. Sorry about those who haven't got their orders yet.
