I know that people have compared The Dutchess and Teenage Dream due to the sound/aesthetics as well as the multiple number 1s. However, I don't feel that Fergie's influence is acknowledged much passed that.

 

Sabrina's Short n Sweet has been compared to Teenage Dream, but I don't see people following the thread to The Dutchess. The lyrics for a lot of the songs on The Dutchess are very tongue in cheek just like Short n' Sweet. Not to mention, Fergie has often had a throwback, retro feel with her sound and aesthetic just like Sabrina does now. I could totally see songs like Glamorous and Clumsy fitting perfectly on Short n' Sweet.  There's also the Disney Channel connection between Sabrina and Fergie. Hopefully Sabrina has more longevity though. 

 

I also feel that there's been some Fergie influence with other artists like Ariana, Iggy Azalea, and Meghan Trainor at different points in their careers.

Her run from 2003 to 2011 was absolutely insane

 

Slaying with "The Dutchess" and having 3 smash BEP albums 

 

Getting 3 #1s and a top 2 hits in her solo debut era 

For me, Fergie was simply a White Woman in the 2000's, who was one of the main figures of a successful Dance-oriented Hip-Hop group, who released one album that was able to crossover due to the Urban ("Black") image/aesthetic and sound that it mostly had which helped with her appeal. This, in itself, continued on from songs like "My Humps" especially which made "The Duchess" stand out at the time. 
 

Despite that, I still feel Gwen Stefani captured that essence better and did it better overall if we're being honest. 

As for Sabrina Carpenter possessing elements of her, I don't see it. Fergie, at least, had an edge; I don't see Carpenter releasing songs ala. "London Bridge", "Glamorous" or "Party People" anytime soon. 

 

I feel that her impact is justly rated overall. 

 

I actually think about Fergie often and hope she's doing ok. That one speech she did for Tom Ford had me worried. She had a brief chokehold on me at one point. I feel like a lot of girls and gays old enough to be there from 2003-07 can relate. The Elephunk-Monkey Business eras were a tiiime. With that said, I don't think she had any notable influence on anyone other than maybe will.i.am who saw the potential in her. Adding her to the group was obviously a huge win.

Valid points.

Gwen, Nelly and Fergie had that aesthetic.

Fergie's album did better.

Gwen had more impact overall.

Nelly probably had the most cohesive timeless output out of the three.
