Prior to meeting my boyfriend, I had no idea who Jill Scott even

was. When he told me that she is his main fave, I decided to check her out thinking that she'd probably be decent but I was blown away by just how strong some of her output is. Like some of these songs omg. Like look at the material…
 

 

WHERE is the new album Jilly? It's been over NINE YEARS girl.

I seriously can't believe I had virtually NO idea who she was prior to meeting my boyfriend. When we started talking and he told me that she's his main fave (as well as from my city), I assumed she was some random indie girl   Imagine my shock when I did a deep dive into her discography and became obsessed with her music and it's not even because my boyfriend worships her she's just THAT good omg.  It's also funny that he stans her bc on the surface he gives very much Charli and Kim Petras stanning twink but his faves are predominately women in R&B/soul, like he got me into India.Arie last night too dd. I'm really enjoying her music and fall in love with new songs everyday.

 

I really hope she announces a new album or tour soon so I can take him to see her (and potentially propose at a concert if the time is right *knocks on wood*)

He had no idea about ATRL prior to meeting me but now he wants to join. It would be fun to have more Jill stans here and potentially create a base thread for her. It's funny that she barely has any threads made about her on this forum despite her being a pretty big name R&B/soul (unless she's more niche than I thought). The only thread about her are a bunch of members dragging her for saying Chris Brown's violence against women should be forgiven the same way she forgave her mother's ex-husband for being physically abusive because…he was good with cement and got a raise in his field?  Bless her.

I saw her anniversary tour last year in Philly and dead ass was the best concert I've ever been to. Her voice live is AT Beyoncé's level, she's truly incredible. 

Y'all don't sleep on her live album. Some of the versions of her first album's hits are even better there. Jill is a vocalist AND a damn good lyricist. A whole vibe
