(The reason is Hoobastank's penises.) Perhaps the mere association with Akon kneecapped #16 "The Sweet Escape" in its showdown with #1 "Frozen". Even feminist anthem #14 "You Don't Own Me" breezed past pick-me anthem #3 "You Belong With Me" in the biggest upset of the day, completely eliminating Taylor Swift from the tournament. The only male artist to advance was will.i.am, a featured act on #4 "Fergalicious"...which defeated #13 "Mirrors" by Justin Timberlake, a noted man. Madonna is the last act with multiple singles in the draw, though Beyoncé has her own entry and one from Destiny's Child and, because of a beloved guest verse, Missy Elliott also has two contenders. Since Breathe (00) & Levitating (21) finished as year end #1s, and How Do I Live finished as #1, even bigger, decade end for the 1990s, shouldn't disqualify them from this #2s tournament? These certainly already "avenged" their runners-up weekly peaks. This would be the same for Lifehouse's Hanging By A Moment (01) too.

The “redemption” is just cute branding for the tournament.
