according to op’s logic of using 4 as the benchmark of flops, i guess TEOM didn’t do well since it barely outdid 4 :penguin:

Also although they were bigger, the difference between TEOM/COADF and Circus isn’t as big as the pure sales suggest. iTunes made album sales decrease a lot from 2005 to 2008.

 

in consumption units (physical/digital/streaming):
COADF - 12m

TEOM - 11m

Circus - 8m

 

if The Singles Collection wasn’t released and the album had the planned re-edition with 3 and I Wanna Go, it would be over 10m.


Add in the tour which was record breaking at the time for someone so young and I don’t see how it wasn’t a successful comeback :penguin:
