I know the “why did it stop” line at the end of NGNDA is meant to be humorous, but maybe it also serves as a transition into a sad/deep song?

I love that! Especially since NGNDA is track 6 of 13 and wasn't there a rumor the other day that the album starts AND ends with a ballad? Maybe NGNDA is the end of a two or three songs "dance break" before she's giving us all the feels again?

That's a great idea!

That last line has been a punchline to a joke since the song was released. It sounds as if she says 'Efharisto', which in Greek it means Thank You. Me and my boyfriend pretend like she is thanking us for listening to her song :rip:

I love that! Let me tell that story to my Greek coworker real quick. :nicole:

I know she loves to have this messed up albums, with songs all over the place, but I wish that for once she would kinda tell a story with the album, you know? Like having it cohesive, from the beginning till the end, not some Beam Me Up/Walk Of Shame kind of mess.

Oof that was rough, that was rough :skull:

But I totally agree with you - and that's why she's never really been an 'album' artist for me, but rather a 'throw a bunch of everything to appease everyone' one.

I think she's an album artist in the sense that her greatest songs are all hidden gems in the albums, and the singles 90% of the time don't have the quality she has on album tracks.

I was hoping the flop of H2BH would teach her a lesson, but it seems like nothing changed at all.

I guess but that's most (many, at least) artists. Her albums - no shade - are pure chaos* and clearly a mix of many different things to appease as many people as possible, vs. her having one vision / theme / idea for the album era. And that's not necessarily bad I guess, but it does make me view her differently than other artists who don't do that.

* Maybe with the exception of BT, probably her most cohesive album, thematically (IDK what do you think haha)?

She has always been like that. That's who she is, because that's how she perceives life. And it's reflected into her work. I like that about her.

True Love

Beautiful Trauma

Leave me Alone, I'm Lonely

etc...

Life is beautiful, bot so ******* traumatic.

Can you give us more info on the songs? You said before that it's like stripped down instrumentally but with overly produced vocals. Is it comparable to, for example, Ocean Eyes by Billie Eilish? A lot of vocal layers that very much make the melodies and everything, but the actual instrumental is held back.

I take it from your comment that this album is yet again a collection of songs rather than a cohesive body of work.

Not quite, Ocean Eyes is lovely :giraffe: The way I described it before is still how I feel about it: like a fan took the acappella off of a heavily produced electronic track and put it over an acoustic guitar or piano. Some of the songs just don't sound right, way too much processing and perfecting for an otherwise raw vibe instrumentally.

Thank you for the info!

Can it be that the songs still needed to be worked on or do you think that was her artistic choice to have it sound sort of disembodied from the surrouding instrumental and not incorporated right?

I honestly have no idea, but probs not 'artistic choice' (no shade to her tho nnn). And honestly, people might disagree or try dragging me when it's out - it might just be a me thing :)

Surprisingly, I think her most cohesive album is Can't Take Me Home, followed by Try This. I'm Not Dead (my fave btw) also has too many distinct subjects, but she somehow managed to not make it absurd.

What is the ratio of ballads/upbeat songs? (And which style you like best from them in this case?)

Also, are there only 3 collabs in it?

Haha, yeah, don't worry! If they disagree then they disagree. Everyone's got their own taste in things.

I am just super curious and hope I am not too annoying with these questions :D

Buuuuuuut....... is there anything new on the album? Or maybe old producers that are back? *cough*lindaperry*cough*

I'd group M!ssundaztood to that list of mostly cohesive albums. Most tracks have that heavy beat that goes throughout most of the album and most of the subject matters/themes she sings about are of the same nature.

Yea I can see that for sure Lolol

There are a few more upbeat - NGNDA is definitely the most and stands out quite a bit IMO - but for the rest, even if they're not traumatically sad, they're still not 'bops'; this is not a 'bops' album.

Not annoying at all; I just don't want to answer too much more. I'm definitely not an insider and don't want to put myself out there as one :) Linda Perry returning? A dream, a literal dream - but only that :laugh2:

I knooow :cries: we can still dream, and hope, and pray... :'(

But from the features, I have sort of a feeling that this (or a couple songs) might sound like the roady indie alternative songs from like 10 to 15 years ago.

Anyway, I am excited! Where would you rank it amongst her other albums?

Also I wish they said what's in that super deluxe boxset.

We really appreciate everything you've shared with us, honestly!

The only thing that I personally would like to ask is if she serves amy vocals? Like anything that made you go WOW! Do you remember any moments like that?
