- "All Hands on Deck" was a #1 smash on the B. U. Hot 100 :jonnycat:

- "Watch Me Work" was also another top 5 on the B. U. Hot 100 for miss Tinashe, despite zero promo. This actually happened after the media find out Rihanna stole parts of the song for her own hit "Work (feat. Drake)"!

"2 On" also peaked at #24 on the Billboard Hot 100

talk about a smash hits era

Both Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City have the same amount of top 10 hits and in the same positions (#1: Fireflies, Call Me Maybe, #8: Good Time). :gaycat5:

Coldplay only has five Top 10 singles in the US.

The Scientist never charted to begin with.

Don't deserve more.

Backstreet Boys never had a no.1 single.

Missy Elliott never had a no.1 album.

TFM was bigger and this is a fair comperison considering TD was also re-relesed and had 2 more big hits( no of singles in those extanded eras- 7)

it sold more digital singels, it sold way more, was more acclaimed and had the bigger tour by far. TD has better reccurent streams though

Hilary Duff never had a Top 10 hit :noparty:

when I was younger and didn't check for the charts I've thought she has some huge hits. Pretty shocked none of them entered the Top 10.

Well to be fair it was released in late June of 1984, so it's chart run was split into two years. It was #24 on the YEC in 1984, and #9 in 1985.

But yea, still too low for an album that spent 24 weeks at #1.

To expand on this, a lot of people think Taylor came the closest to dethroning Kelly with ME!'s +98 climb from 100-2 (which technically does hold the record for biggest single-week jump on the Hot 100), however one even more impressive chart increase often gets overlooked due to a technicality: Katy Perry's “Part of Me”.

Known for its #1 debut atop the US Billboard Hot 100, little acknowledge that prior to this it actually also debuted at #1 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart the week prior, effectively climbing +100 positions from #101 to #1. Due to the technicality of the Bubbling Under chart being separate from the main Hot 100, this achievement is not recognised, however it is both a bigger jump to #1 than Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You" and a bigger single-week jump than Taylor Swift's "ME!".

"Part of Me" is haunted by technicalities. Due to it not appearing on the original edition of Teenage Dream (despite being recorded during its sessions) it is not formally credited as being the 6th #1 single from the album overall, and didn't break her tied record with Michael Jackson, despite Billboard themselves indicating a single from a reissue with only three new tracks such as Rihanna's Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded would be suitable to break the aforementioned record in an article following the historic rise of "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" to #1, preceding the selection of "The One That Got Away" as the album's sixth single.

Billboard presumably did not actually anticipate Perry doing just that, and although it was never marketed as such, they instead considered it a companion project akin to The Fame Monster or Cannibal, due to the additional inclusion of an acoustic version, two remixes, and a megamix, increasing the total number of "new tracks" from 3 to 7.

Shake it Off debuted at #4 on Bubbling Under...

I mean compared to today

Folklore got release end of July and Certified Lover Boy got released in September and both ended up #5 YEC in 2020 and 2021. Or recovery being released in June reaching #2 and #13 in 2010 and 2011.

speak now released on October 25th and ended up #9 in 2010, red released on October 23rd and ended up #4 in 2012, 1989 released October 27th and ended up #3 in 2014.

I’m just confused on the methodology.

Taylor and Drake were the biggest artists of our time when they released those albums. Meanwhile, Prince's album prior to Purple Rain only reached #7.

In fact, Purple Rain debuted at only #11, and then after four weeks it reached #1. Billboard's YEC ends in November, and it was #1 til late January, so a lot of those weeks at #1 weren't counted for 1984 and that's why it charted so low on the YEC (#24).

Britney's 3rd album has not a single top 10 entry. Each single flopped. Rough 3rd album run for her. I always thought I'm a Slave For You was a huge hit.

Paula Abdul has 6 consecutive #1 singles:

- Straight Up

- Forever Your Girl

- Cold Hearted Snake

- Opposites Attract

- Rush Rush

- The Promise of a New Day

She is the first artist to achieve four #1 singles on the Hot 100 from a debut album.

Paula Abdul's debut album Forever Your Girl took a whopping 63 weeks to reach #1.  It still holds the record for longest ascent to top of the charts.

It spent 10 weeks at #1 and over 60 weeks in the Top 10. At the time, it became the biggest debut album of all time and still remains in Billboard's Top 5 most successful female eras.

Rihanna is the only woman to score 4 number 1s in a calendar year. Doing so in 2010. :clap3:

She's also the only act to have their album's second single reach number 1 before its first. :clap3:
