I don't know about years but I think that a showdown with some international artists' most successful (but not always best, unfortunately) or most acclaimed (not easily quantified) albums would be great.

Well, those albums are good, though I'd take more country variety still. But 1999 was a great year so I wouldn't complain even if some of my faves were out.
