I've been to Cancun which was lovely! It's quite touristy and overrun with Americans but there's a lot of cultural things to see and a great party atmosphere, lovely beaches too! Last year I went to Mexico City which was also nice and I felt it was a more authentic Mexican experience but I did feel a little bit unsafe at times  

Actually I think I'll go to Cancun again at some point next year
