This is the most active I've seen the base in ages. Not a rate or ranking in sight. No visual discussions either. Just gathering around our love of Beyonce.

With that being said I need someone new/active to stan :eli:

We complain a lot but I must say Beyoncé taking a step back and becoming more elusive has diversified my music taste so much. But it does suck though bc she has set the standard SO HIGH. Shoutout to her therapist(s) bc idk how she deals with the pressure to constantly top herself.

Damn near everyone I stan or love is already established in their careers and/or take forever to release new projects. Doja and Meg are the most interesting right now though. They just aren't…BEYONCÉ :jonny2:

I AM World Tour >

The set list is MILES better and she was a lot more entertaining and theatrical. Vocally and visually.

I Am Tour is better because part of my forehead is featured on the DVD (and a bunch of friends appears too) :gaycat:

She chose those ballads because those are love songs she can sing to the fans. Duh. The only sneak is I Care, but that's the one she clearly enjoys doing the most (and to some extent fits the brief too).

Makes no sense at all to perform If I Were a Boy or Me Myself and I there.

That section would have been better if it was those though. An opening of DIL, Listen, Halo, Irreplaceable etc, wigs would fly.

The biggest kii was Rather Die Young in the middle of the set list. :rip:

And yet it would still make sense to sing Halo, All Night, Brown Skin Girl or XO.

My point still stands, it would have been a more effective show if she had

a) made her 'I am my own opening act' thing more obvious through the storytelling and staging

b) engaged the entire audience with known hit ballads before transitioning into a setlist that entirely revolves around her latest project

You might not agree with me, but we all went to the RWT. The first actual hit she performed(?) was Sweet Dreams. The audience went crazy when she interpolated that song.

The stadium would have been way more lit throughout the show if she actually integrated her old hits into the new setlist. If she actually sang some of Sweet Dreams. etc etc.

Yes, Club Carter was lit, but building your legacy as a still-relevant artist is about bringing your casual supporters along for the ride, especially if you want to sell out stadiums. Otherwise you end up with a core fanbase that's gagged at your new releases and a wider audience who views you as a legacy artist and resents you for not 'playing your hits'

I don't know what RWT some of yall went to but the opening ballads definitely worked for my show - it brought a different level of hype. Once she finished them and that Renaissance intro came on, wow. There was not one moment of the show that felt a bit slow. The Cuff It performance had everyone moving around me we didn't need to see her doing full out choreo for any thing

I'm not even talking about the Cuff It choreo, the whole arrangement wasn't perfect. So many unnecessary pauses. And that 'clap clap clap' part was useless. I love Bey! But not everything she does is sacred perfection.

I was skeptical of the opening at the first show, but by time I got to my two shows, it was a HUGE highlight.  Those vocals killed everyone before the show even started.  I mean you could actually see how amazed some people were, including the security, and staff of the venues, and then boom.  It was supposed to be like two separate shows, one a vocal showcase, and the other was the party.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I really did miss Halo.  It's such a big song on tour, and I wish she would've performed it.

It was a personal highlight for me to watch her park and bark. But I don't think it worked as either an introduction to the wider show nor as a funny bit about her opening for herself. It just didn't work narratively.

And I know this take is getting heat but we were all confused on opening night and so was the entirety of Stockholm lmfao. Sure, the country is more reserved and its audiences would be too. But we have to be serious now. That audience was dead. Because they were confused.

By the time it hit the UK people knew what to expect, but opening a RENAISSANCE tour with...Flaws and All is a wild choice

I'm Goin Down, River Deep and I Care are not love songs

If the theme was love songs she would have chosen a tina tribute to fit the theme (The Best would have made sense)

i know it's entitled but she should've also had an encore with Single Ladies, All Night, Halo after Summer Renaissance where she's performing in a simple outfit to really drive home the I was my own opening act gimmick

An encore wouldve been cute honestly.

The opening act gimmick would have been so easy to convey if the voiceover was changed ever so slightly to

'Ladies and Gentleman, tonight's opening act, opening for herself, it's...Beyonce'

I Am tour still had remnants of Bey's brand where she kinda took herself a bit too seriously. Pretending not to swear. Mugler wedding dress etc etc.

Mrs Carter had more grit even before she dropped Self Titled. It was a better show, but the outfits were worse.

I'm hoping we get a big All Night performance on a future tour...  That song is perfection

I can see Single Ladies never being performed again :coffee:

The only song that NEEDS to be on the next set list is Irreplaceable. It's been too long and it's her #1 stadium anthem

But wigs flew. And she considered those, they're in the booklet. I personally wouldn't change 1+1/I'm Goin' Down for anything and she's done every possible iteration of Halo already.

We don't even know if maybe she was preparing more than one setlist at once. Like she may tour Cowboy Carter with an entire different setlist and something like Irreplaceable would definitely be a better fit there. :michael:

I went three times, two times with casual fans. They loved the opening act.

When she comes up in an ethereal gown and hits those notes, the casuals are in complete and total awe. Both nights I went with friends who aren't big fans their mouths were agape and they said something along the lines of, "I can't believe she's real." You don't really get that same affect if you launch straight into I'm That Girl at the jump.

I'd say the one thing they did complain about was the show was too long so an encore would've been a mess. Even as a stan I was ready to go by the end.

Agree that 1+1 and I'm Goin Down is the most underrated part of the whole setlist. 1+1 was the biggest hit in that section and I wouldnt remove it either
